I am in the middle of building an Aerokits Sea Commander. The supplied motor, which I intend to use, is a 6-12 V 750S. I am not yet able to measure the current draw. I will be using a 7.2 V 4000 or 5000mAh NiMh pack to power the motor.
I have an old Pro Peak Delta Peak charger which charges at 130 mA trickle, or 3.5 A fast charge. Which would be the best charge rate for a pack of this capacity?
To anyone who has experience of this model I would be interested to know what you put into your boat, battery, speed control etc.
Cheers, Terry.

There is a very good article on batteries and charging in a recent Marine Modeling International magazine. It describes what kind of charger to use with what battery, and how fast to charge batteries.
I thought of forwarding a copy to Boeing... O0

Batteries are generally happier with a long slow charge, but still work OK with a faster charge provided the auto cut off is working. I would tend to use the slow charge for the first few cycles, and just go for the fast charge if I was in a hurry.
