I had a similar problem recently - by copying my text and saving it in a word document, if a failure occurs I can at least copy and paste back into the reply box.

To get my pictures on I submit them through postimage.org (it's free as well).

Also, I tend to preview before clicking on the "post" button - it's another way of checking all is well before posting.

Have another go Harvey, oh and welcome to Mayhem  %%

Regards,

Ray.

I find this a lot if I post with photos............so now I post the written part of the posting first, and once it has posted, I press modify and insert the photos. I also take a right click and copy the prose before pressing send, so I don't have to think what I have written and re type it all.

Ive had this happen a couple times when using photos, i now copy so i can paste if it fails as others have suggested.  O0

Interesting.   Image links via Photobucket always work when posting text + images.

However, copy/pasting never works, nor does the "attachments and other options" in the Post Reply form.

Why do these seem to work for some, but not for others?

I think that the post message tool can time out.

As has been suggested, draft it in MSWord and then cut and paste.
One suggestion is not to write very long posts. Many people don't read them. It is best to do shorter posts and spread them out over a longer period. It gives us readers the pleasure of waiting for the next installment too. And saves you from burn out.

Problem might be that Attachments and other options has some fine print :

"Allowed file types: txt, doc, jpg, gif, pdf, PNG
Restrictions: 12 per post, maximum total size 2000KB, maximum individual size 161KB"

Digital cameras produce very large files therefore a picture editor may be required to crop and save the file to a smaller size of <161KB before transmission.

Yep, there are several free tools you an download to 'resize' photos.

Another simple option if you have MSPowerPoint is to put the pictures into a presentation, then
File
Saves As
Saves as jpg image.

This turns each slide into a seperate jpg that should fit/attach without a hitch.

Sorry, no, neither copy/paste or "attach image" work on Post Reply.

Tried both again today with a 23k .JPG of 400 x 263.
I had posted this image previously using a link to Photobucket.

Copy/Paste:  Nothing happens.  Post remains 'blank', even on preview.  (I'm using IE8)
"Attatchments and other options":  Select above file, Nothing happens.  Post remains 'blank'.

Why ?  Attachments option used to work in the previous version of Mayhem.

(There should be 2 copies of the small JPG image here, using both above methods)

If you do use the forum reply box and think there may be a timeout due to a large text submission, you can do a Ctrl C before pressing "Post". If it does dump you, Ctrl V on a resubmission box works fine.

Also, IE doesn't save your 'page cache' very well but Firefox does so you can always go back complete pages if something fails to post.

NB: You can't just copy photos direct into a post like Word etc. it won't work and you will loose all of your posting.

I also had trouble posting photos, my son solved my problems by down loading Gimp editing program he spent the next hour manipulating my dim brain to use it and I managed to up load 4 photos in one hit ,
