Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows where I might obtain some model plans for the English army d.u.k.w. ,was thinking of having a go at one of these for a long term project, to run in between other boats
Many thanks in advance
Regards Tony

Try Deans marine they used to do it as a kit..
-
rex ward automotive engineering , reading, berkshire restores the full size machine , i understand that our own marine base near barnstaple , north devon are still using the dukw as are frog tours of london and liverpool !

I've had a Deans DUKW on the go for a few years and I reached a stumbling block over how to seal the rear drive shaft (I'm using the full 6 wheel drive kit). It is just a semi kit you have to provide the undercarriage bits yourself. Overall I was most unimpressed with the quality of the kit particularily the fibreglass mouldings. Maybe I will finish it one day!

Hi
Did you finish the DUKW, was just looking at on.

try this , it may get you started enough and buy the Italiera kitset too for reference

HI I built a D U KW many years ago I could not find any plans. I found the squadron signal publication a great help giving all the dimensions you need to complete a model. I do not think Deans Marine will supply any plans. Duck Tours are now out of business.
Stan. :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((

One of the first kits I built was a dukw, Deans Marine supply a general arrangement drawing, no dimensions but quite informative, as for the drive/wheels this is left to your own ideas...

Of course they would be correct, many regiments have Royal in their title. The Royal Scots alas have been amalgamated with a newer mob. The Royal Scots were the oldest regiment in the British army. They got the nickname "Pontius Pilate`s bodyguard" during a bragging match in an alehouse with a French regiment who boasted that their regiment was so old that they were on duty at the Crucifixion of Lord Christ. The Scots retorted that if THEY had been on duty He would not have got away ! The Royal Marines are an older force but not in the army.

and, thirty years ago, Brown's Flags and Funnels had a listing for the ROYAL NAVAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION. It just never ends...

Many apologies Arrow did not mean to cause any offence. At the time I was getting lots of info on other countries amphibious vechicles but quite right should have said British. :embarrassed:

It`s OK Tony, a common mistake. More so in Europe :((
