Title: deans marine mini radio gear
Post by: murphy1570 on March 27, 2013, 10:57:55 pm
Hello folks

Has any fellow member who has bought and used the very promising looking deans marine mini radio gear above tried it out, ie in the Airfix kit 1:72nd MTB, I have recently bought the Airfix kit with a view to converting it to radio control. I am thinking of ordering the deans marine gear to try out in the above kit and if it works okay use it in similar small relativly cheap plastic kits. Any information, advice, help, would be appreciated and any photos of how fellow members who have built and converted the kit with the adaptations neccessary for the build and conversion.

Thanks, all the best, John.

Hi John

Several other options exist if you are willing to do some scratchbuilding using a GRP hull;

Or the S7-13 E-Boat hull could be used with everything from the deck up from the Airfix kit...

I have converted the Airfix 1/72nd Air Sea rescue launch and the results were pretty impressive on a quick initial trial without the superstructure in place - so much so that I need to have the top on in future to keep the spray out and am still working on the securing method.  I'll post  picture when I have sorted this

Hello folks

Thanks for the replies very helpful, any more advice is more than welcome, I have taken the plunge!!! and ordered the full set, I assume it is possible to order parts like spare motors, batteries etc for installation into other similar models I forgot to ask when ordering and cannot see if the individual parts can be ordered on Deans website, also folks is it possible to transfer the esc board,servos,etc to another model without to much hassle?

Thanks again, all the best,John.

There are only really two RC parts in the model - the motor and the combined receiver/servos board.  They are John Perkins items and can be ordered seperately via your model shop or on the internet.  You could move them from model to model but they aren't designed to make that easy as the securing points aren't really designed to support that.
