Title: 1/200 Merit International / Trumpeter USS Hornet CV-8
Post by: Harquebus on June 06, 2013, 01:09:41 am
This debuted at the New York Toy Fair earlier this year (I'm late). 1/200 kits for the F4F, the TBD, the SBD and the B-25 were strangely announced around the same time, if not a bit prior. Those aircraft strongly hinted at the carrier that can handle them...  ok2 Herrmill posted about this kit in the General/Model Boating section but I post it here (more fitting) and because the kit has finally come to fruition. http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=41948.0

Giant Size of over 1,239 mm Long
     One Piece Injection Molded Hull
     Fully Detailed Hanger
Carrier Deck Molded in Clear Plastic to Display Hangar Detail
     5 x F4F-4 Wildcat Fighters
     5 x SBD 3/4 Dauntless Dive Bombers
     8 x TBD-1 Devastator Torpedo Bombers
16 x Doolittle Raid B-25 B with Proper Nose Art and Markings
Optional Build with “Early” or “Late” Type Radars
     Over 1,290 Parts
     44 Injection Molded Sprues
     9 Photo Etched Detailing Sheets
8 x Turned Metal Barrels for 5 inch Guns
     Metal anchor Chains

A bit pricey but this vessel cries out for R/C conversion. Anything less would be a waste of plastic!  <*<

Pre-orders only at this time. I'm certain other vendors are doing the same thing...

Harquebus,

Digressing, do you happen to know what kit of the field gun is, with the split trail, below right of the "carrier"

Figures you'd ask that question, considering your username.  :-)

Mine too; I like heavy, mid-15th century matchlock guns. Maybe the emphasis should be on 'heavy'. Then again, I like anything that goes boom and fires a projectile. All we need now is for Trumpeter/Wasan models to make a 1/16 R/C M35 "Deuce and a half" to haul that thing.

Am particularly interested in 3.7 inch Heavy Anti Aircraft Gun, better than the German 88mm, of which there are numerous kits, But not of the British Gun. <:( <:( <:( <:(
