Title: forming the foil in the sail when making a new set off sails
Post by: smartie59 on July 02, 2013, 01:33:29 pm
Hi all,
I am trying for the first time to make a set off sails off a plan and I got a forming block with a profile of the foil.
I am still not sure and have drawn the sail out on paper ready to copy onto sail.
Can anyone give me pointers or a rout to follow in plain talk and understand please.
The yacht came to me with no sails or rigging but did get some IOM plans for a similare yacht.
rod.

There isn't a short easy answer to this question, however I recently started making sails & found this the best explanation so far

I had to read it a few times, but eventually it became clearer. It is very unlikely your first set will be wonderful, but they will be ok & the experience you gain will be invaluable.
