Lifeboat model lands four awards for RNLI volunteerJun 4 2007

A LIFEBOAT manager scooped four awards at a prestigious national model engineering exhibition.

Arthur Barlow spent eight years building a working scale model of Llandudno’s Mersey-class all-weather lifeboat Andy Pearce.

The volunteer lifeboat administrative officer and treasurer at Llandudno and Conwy lifeboat stations exhibited the vessel at this year’s National Model Engineering and Modelling exhibition.

And he won a clutch of four awards for his effort at the Harrogate show recently when he was awarded the following: A first certificate for model boats built from scratch; Eventex UK Shield for Best Boat in Show, Precision Paints award for Best-finished Model and Barry Jordan Trophy for Best in Show.

His radio-controlled one-tenth scale model of the Andy Pearce beat competition from other model boats and ships, and scale model railway locomotives.

I was shown a few piccies of this build of the 'Andy Pearce'....

Stunning model, and a worthy winner :)

As a by the by I acquired a ModelSlipway Trent from a chap local to me here in Wrexham, who is building, coincidentally the 'sister' boat to the 'Andy Pearce', the 'Christopher Pearce' - a Severn class boat, which is stationed at Holyhead.
