I need to make some deck lights for my drifter,I think using small bore tubing with turned brass end caps will do the trick, or I can profile some clear rod and bore out for the led.
Trouble is... where the heck do I find some clear rod/tubing? Ideas/suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

Hello Ian,
I have a set of Robbe deck lights that sound like what you are trying to make. Small bore tube should be available from any good model shop or try Hobby's.

depending on the size of tube you are after why not try biro pens the clear type and shove a led in either end a good stationary shop will have pens of different diameters in stock.

If you look at reply no.67 on steam drifter build, the third pic shows the sort of thing I am trying to replicate above the front of the wheelhouse.

For really small lights you can use the fibre optics from a dead lighty-up santa or an old mares tail lamp. One central bulb, feed the light to where you want it. Downside is not much light output though an individual fibre, but you can improve things by heating the end then squidging (tech term) it out to a lens shape.

The lights need to be about 10mm external diameter, with internal bore to accept GOW bulbs.
I had thought of fibre optic, but dont think they will give enough light for overhead deck lighting.

I thought you may have wanted 1mm or 2mm tube 10mm is avalable so
