Good evening folks, I have just taken the plunge (pun intended) and bought a Robbe U47, but, there is no instruction book with it, so, I have a question or 2, first off, how do I get inside to charge batteries? How do I switch it on without having to take it all apart? The rudders are very loose, so I will need to sort those out, how do I get to them? Does anyone have a book I could buy or that could be scanned and emailed? I think that will do for now,

Like wise I am too looking for the instructions and booklet for this model.
If it is built the same as the one I have there is an opening in the bow to insert an allen key, however looking at your pictures I can not see a join in the hull ?.
Oh yes I can I think at the rear of the sub. So yes you should have an opening in the bow. ( near the bottom)

Sorted, got hull split now, batteries on charge, hopefully will be able to take her for a sail tomorrow.....Could still do with instructions though.... :-)) :-)) :-))

Morning folks, I have got her open now and all is looking good, batteries have been charged so its off for trials later. Here's some pictures of the insides for those interested... :-)) :-)) :-))

Main batteries are 2 x 6v 4amp SLA....Got the instructions, many thanks, I will post a photo of batteries in situ later when I fetch it in from the car.... :-)) :-)) :-))

Initial sea trials went well, a bit reluctant to dive beneath the waves, but made it eventually, bone dry inside when opened up for post sail inspection.

The white ensign has been removed, I meant to do so before taking photos, but forgot in my excitement at getting it in the water. The lady I bought it from whose father built it, told me her dad did not like Germans, so he put a white ensign on it. I believe the RN did have a captured U Boat, that probably would have flown the white ensign. Incidentally, what colour is the U Boat ensign? BECC flags have one for U Boats, which is a white version of the Kreigsmarine ensign, as well as the standard red one. :-)) :-)) :-))

you want the red one, i would suggest you need more ballast especially at the bows, if this is dynamic diving. I.E. forward motion takes her down no ballast tanks. best trim would be decks awash. hope this helps.

Hi just spotted your post I have a set of instructions i can email to you, if required i have a U47 converted to static dive, bought the hull allready done just finished wiring and painting..

Good morning, many thanks for the offer, but I have now acquired a set of instructions. She is a poorly submarine at the moment, speed controller burnt out after an encounter with some blanket weed. Does converting to static diving require any drastic alterations? I may look in to it if it can be done without major disruption....

yes it does require a fair bit of work...mine was already done.
I use a micro gyros esc and a circuit breaker for added protection..my first Uboat was the dynamic dive, and now have two static dive subs which are great fun.
May be see you on the water one day, have you fitted a leveller they make dynamic subs much easier to sail and can hold a boat at periscope depth very nicely again Microgyros do one and I have those in both subs as do some of my pals..

Just looked on Microgyros site, the leveller, looks like it has been discontinued, so I will look elsewhere, I have 3 Microgyros esc's in surface boats, so I will pinch one of those. Many thanks for your helf,

Those are legacy documents for earlier designs, which have been discontinued. The latest leveller can be seen at the bottom of the home page. It is a notable improvement on earlier designs, being considerably smaller and incorporating more functions.

That's what you'll find with theses things, you take forever to put them together and get over problems and then you have go back and fix old ones etc. T he hardest/longest time i've had has been getting the rear part to join up properly with the rest of it. Still restling with it now, even today. :}
