Hi everyone,
After a very successful meeting today with Beale Park, Mid Thames Model Boat Club and ourselves, we are very pleased to announce, the confirmed dates for the Beale Park model boat show 2014, will be on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May. This year the show will be held on the much larger outer lake. There will be free entry to the boat show for the public and all model boat exhibitors. This will be a full trade show. We are going to have the very successful bring and buy stand again this year (2014) and new for 2014 a tombola with lots of goodies.
There will be free camping for exhibitors and if you are able we would like a voluntary donation for charity. You will be able to camp from Friday 2nd until Monday morning (5th May). This will be on a first come first serve basis. This is just a taster for now, as we get more confirmation on the finer details for the show we will post this on Mayhem. For now if you are interested in attending, to give us some idea of numbers, please contact us either through Mayhem or at [email protected] if you are considering trading at Beale Park you can contact us the same way.
kind regards
Debbie and Alan - ATB

Hellogreat to her Beale is going ahead next year.
I have a question what is the acess like to the water. I rember the show was out on the big lake in the late 1990s . The acess was ok back then but that was a long time ago.

Beale Park is always a great event. Sounds like it could be even bigger and better next year.
We normally enter via our clubs, so if you're reading this Guy please put my name down.

Right, it's IN the diary for next year. Hopefully will be camping from Friday till Monday...
Dave.

Count the Display Team in..we may have to postpone the big manned battleships refits till after the event, we do like to play on the big lake :-)
-
can you advise as to why it will be on one of the outside lakes, and not inside as it has always been for years ?
-
Sounds interesting - but it always struck me how much more 'choppy' the water was out on the outside lake, compared to the sheltered inner lake.
Probably be good for the sailing boys, and those with fast electrics, but if there is a breeze then the scale guys are going to find it a handful and not very enjoyable.
Will be interested to see how it pans out - and we would have been there, if it wasnt for the fact that we only just this morning booked to attend the South West model show at Bath & West.
I hope Beale becomes the success it used to be....

Hi Phil,
Thank you for your enquiry Phil.
For years one of the complaints has been the entrance fee to the park.
So after the big success of last years one day show next year we are bringing back the two day show.
By holding it on the outside lake it gives us a lot more water to play with and giving free access
for the general public aswell as all model boaters and exhibitors.
It will give people like yourself with the larger models, a lot more room to display and show what your model can do.
Also we are going to need a lot more room next year. One other thing us dog owners will be able to bring our pets along with us.
We hope you can make it to the show.
kind regards
Debbie and Alan

Thanks for the info

I think you have made the correct choice. The entrance fee was very steep and off putting. My friend who was there found it hard to move his big boat through the crowd line to the water. Going to the out side lake you could have a rope off acess route for models going to the water which is safer for all. I am looking foward to the show.

On the big lake. When the show is on will there be fishermen or other people using he lake other than model boaters?
john

does anyone know if the 'temporary' showers will be about for the modelling campers at the show ?-
i know beale make them available for the full size/ big boat show campers....
-
Hi,
Unfortunately because of circumstances beyond our control, myself and Debbie as ATB, will be unable to bring you the show at Beale Park.
kind regards
Alan and Debbie - ATB
-
That's a shame, was looking forward to it. Will you be going to Ellesmere in March as ATB?
Dave. :((
-
Does that mean no event at Beale over that weekend?
-
Aw that's a shame <:(
-
Interesting way of putting it Alan..........
That can be read 2 ways.........either the show is on, but ATB are having nothing to do with it or the whole show is off.
Which one is it please?
Cheers
Carl
-
Any answers please?
From somebody? Anybody?
Thankyou,
Carl
-
Hi, we will not be doing a show there.
You will have to contact Mid Thames MBC or Beale Park to find out if they will be doing anything ?????
kind regards
Alan
-
Thanks Alan, for clearing it up.
I am sorry that things didnt work out for you. Was really hoping that Beale was going from strength to strength.
It seems it has had its day..................
Carl
-
Can we ask why the show is not happing ?
john
-
Will PM you John.......... :-))
-
Well that is me and Beale finished.
Wasted leave to keep the whole weekend free.
I have been a supporter of this show for years but it just goes from bad to worse to worser.
Bob
-
Is the show actually cancelled {:-{ {:-{
ATB has stated their not taking part but the other organisers may still be doing the show
can anyone clarify it??
-
Does anyone have the definitive answer?
Seem to me the reasons are shrouded in
secrecy.
Has there been a large falling out?
Would be nice to know when people have
made arrangements to attend only to find
'nowt goin on'
Ned

Well still no from MTMBC or Beale has come on here to give there side of the story.
For the people who want to know what happened pm Ateam boatyard.
It would seam that this show has had it last gasp and is now DEAD and that is a real shame. From its heyday in the mid to late 1990s it has fallen from grace due to politics .I spoke with some one who might have been interested in running the show. There Answer was not interested in working with Beale park ........

Alan PM'd me with basically the same info as John has posted.
Sad really.

The management at Beale Park has always been the same, driven by greed. Dealt with them for a few years when I was treasurer of MTMBC. Sad really, nice club and a great place to sail models.
-
as the dates clashed with the south west show being held at the bath and west showground this year , maybe we can all attend that show instead ?
