I've had this for ages, but I don't know what it is, what it does or what it's for...anybody recognise it?
Rich
-
... does it turn your Dog on / off?!!
-
Rich,
Its a "Snoopy Switch" all you have to do is read it!!!!
Bob
-
It's no wonder I worry 'bout you lot, is it... ;D

Mole ejection module.
Connect thick wires to mole probe
(Look in your bit bin)
Plug into gear channel on Rx
Insert mole probe into molehill
Select gear up on Tx
Mole will fly up and can be caught
as it descends in a kiddies shrimp net.
Simples %%

Dear Lord, give me strength... :o

I need a beer.... %)

Well it passed it's test with flying colours.
I should imagine it might be a switch. O0

Hook it up to a receiver operate the channel its plugged in to, probably hear a click if it has a relay, put a multimeter on Ohms across the thick wires , measure resistance as you operate the channel should go from no resistance to infinite resistance as the switch opens and closes
-
...could be a relic from the Cold War to turn operatives on/off as required {-) , ring MI5.

Looks pretty beefy too.

Permission to commit hari-kari?

Not unless you use the switch so we might be waiting a while!!!
Bob

Is there anything on it that looks like a light sensor?
Is it a PE lighting switch?
-
No Mark, nothing on the case at all..
-
a quick google shows moletech made early electric planes, maybe a motor switch?

Well, that's more than I found, all I kept getting was that comic character dog, or a company who make a diesel fuel saver.
-
Mole Technology was a one-man business run by Richard Smith from his home in Beeston, Nottingham in the late 1980's. He was interested in electric flight, to the extent that I designed a model called Flittermouse for him. This was kitted under the Mole Technology name (parts c/o Balsacraft - who were never fully paid) and was quite popular. His own electronics were, however, not quite up to the job. We had a falling out and he then sold rights to the model's plans to Radio Modeller magazine under his own name. Naughty, but I didn't bother following it up. Best rid.
When I last heard of him he'd moved to the Settle area - the Lord only knows what he's doing now (possibly mending gaming machines?).
I seem to recall that the Snoopy Switch was intended to be an On/Off switch for flight motors. Quite what the maximum current would be is anyone's guess. If you want to try it then I suggest you wire a 540 motor in series with a 7.2v battery in the positive thick lead and connect the negative thick lead direct to battery negative. If the leads aren't coloured for i/d then a quick shufti inside the case at the PCB should answer the question. Plug the 3-wire lead into a receiver channel and at some point along its travel the Tx stick should trigger the flight switch.
Me? I'd bin the thing and buy a proper one. It's obsolete and pretty much worthless.

Now we're getting somewhere...thanks for that, Oh Wise and Masterful One.
I've never connected it to anything (you know what I'm like with electrickery), can't even remember how or why I got hold of it. I'll just bung it back in my junk cupboard and there it can sit for another few years...keep your eyes open on that tv programme ""Britain's Hidden Treasures", it may turn up on there one day in 2020!
Thanks again, Dave...much appreciated.

Moles may be extinct by then so it may turn out
to be valuable :-))
Ned

Exactly! :-))

Here you go - one for the model aeroplane geezers. Still makes me a bit annoyed to see someone else's name against my work (they're my original drawings, too - he didn't even have the wit to re-trace them!) but it's a long time ago http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/22067/rm351-flittermouse (http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/22067/rm351-flittermouse)

Nah - just bin it. Best be safe!

Ned

I'd have two then!

Dear Mr H.
I have seen this item many times in the past. It was either in your boat or it was seen sneaking around in your box of tricks. ;D
It is a single Rx controlled switch manufactured by a small business in the West Country - Mole Technology The guy passed away many years ago if I remember). %)
Merry Christmas to everybody, hope see you all in the New Year.
