Strange you should mention this. :(( MY dog suffers severely when a firework is let off at any time. He goes into tremble and shake mode for about 3 hours and can keep us up most of the night.
On bonfire night the first rocket went of at tea time and he didn't calm down until after the last rocket which was 6 days later. We sought advice and in preparation for tonight, have been drugging him for two days. He seems doped at the moment and we are keeping the TV loud to distract him.
It's a nightmare ................

Now isn't this a funny thing Ken. Tommy will bark the house down unless I take him out to the garden so he can sit and watch the fireworks going up. He will follow a rocket straight up and if it doesn't go bang he will Bark lol....BUT if I get the hammer out in the workshop he is off like a rocket ...he doesn't like the hammer banging .....how strange is that

A good reason to buy a gun dog :-))

I forgot to mention he's a whippet. (albeit, a cowardly one !) The first firework just went off and he's Ok with the loud TV going.

sat here with a beer and watching the most hilarious prog on TV.....Duck Dynasty..that'll do for me, lol

We have had Rottweiler for the last 16 years and they didn't cared about fireworks, crackers etc. but this so called Hunting Dog is a chicken about fireworks but doesn't care about shoutgun fire :o
Right now the "chicken" is enjoying a piece of dried pickskin so it's almost silence here :-))
-
my dog is another who is scared of fireworks and plovers if you have them in the UK.
-
...yeah our older one runs from room to room, hates fireworks. But other than that, a fairly quiet one, as work in the am, as newest manager on staff, but a week in the sun in T minus 3 weeks.....Fuertaventura, oh yeah.
Happy New year!

it is because you shout too loud when the hammer slap on your fingers

Hi all, my New years eve was to pick up my dancing partner go to a dance and dance into the New Year. It all went very well. Got back suitably knackered.
Happy New Year to you all,
Roy

I used to use Rescue Remedy on my Ridgeback whilst not a total cure definitely took the edge of the panic and at 7 stone plus with a continually lashing tail could take an Eye out if sat watching telly. It did calm her down a fair bit. Also handy for spiking SWMBO's food or drink before you announce you got another boat ;)

The wonder of modern drugs !!!! Marvellous. :-))
Just a few raised eyebrows after midnight and off to bed. All of us had a peaceful night.
Computer wouldn't start this morning. Oh dear thought I. A late millennium bug perhaps. Switched off the blank machine. Had another tipple and eventually got it back on line. Phew !!
2014 .... here I come

Hi All,
We started New Years Eve morning with a fountain of water shooting up in the middle of the road. Severn Trent Water say it was caused by two broken water mains but will fix them ASAP. Now, knowing how long these things usually take, I went to my son's house a few miles away and filled a five gallon container and stopped at local shop to buy bottled water. Arrived home lugging said container to find that STW had just turned supply back on. Doh!!
Had excellent New Year celebration and feeling no pain.....
Happy New Year to all,
Dave

A passing thought about NYE, in our County here in Germany we have had one Farmhouse and barn, a block of flats with around 50 People living in it and two seperate flat fires ( Rockets onto Balconies) ,this is not counting many burns and injuries with fireworks, plus loads of rubbish left in the streets and parks from the Revellers. When are they going to stop this madness? Germany spent 52 Million Euros on Fireworks, that is tons of Black powder causing dreadful air polution.
