Hi there.
Has anyone built the 8 window version of the seaview, more importantly,
has anyone, converted it to r.c.
Any info on either build would be very helpful, as I have just ordered one,
and at 39" it can be converted.

I would think it's more or less the same as the four window, and that has been done many times over.
Not an easy boat to get handling well though, be warned.

Thanks for your reply, I only to intend to make it a surface runner, in order to keep things simple,
with plenty of lighting, for night running.

Fair enough. That should be a lot easier than a diver, you don't really need a cylinder for a surface runner, just partition off a bit of the hull and seal it with a hatch.

Hi John.
I recently built the 4 window version with full radio control for surface and diving using a WTC. Although you are building a surface runner I would suggest you join the sub-driver forum where it has plenty of information about the build which I think you would find useful
www.forum.sub-driver.com/forum.php You will need to register and put moebius seaview in search to find the threads. Also if you "google" Moebius Seaview there is loads of info and video to see some I believe with lighting etc. etc.
I also have the eight window version still in the box and as Subculture says there is very little difference between them.

Great info. many thanks,
One thing I have found out from the American vids is that the sub has a marked tendency to nose dive,
so you may want to include a leveller, in your version.
I expect that both our versions are the 39" jobs. if so what size props are you going to use ?
Two reasons I am going surface running are, that I am a pensioner, and you know how hard up we are,
secondly, our waters are not really suitable for subs.
Let us know how you get on, as our two different approaches should be interesting to anyone else thinking of
doing the same sub.

As I said I have completed the 4 window version complete with WTC / RC and I am not contemplating building the 8 window version as I have other projects on hand. I purchased from Caswell the fitting kit for the model which included the props, vanes etc. Which I guess was the easy way out But made my own WTC and own components. I think building a surface running model will be a totally different concept with different problems as the weight issue's will not be the same. At least with this size model you can use the bath !!! The motors I used were two 280 6 volt motors 13,000 rev 24 mm diameter running on 7.4 volt both should rotate the same way with the props housed in the propulsion tubes.

Yes the differences are mainly cosmetic.
and yes the main thing will be balance, I am using 350 to 400 brushed motors.
and a 50 esc, that way all the electrics will run at low speeds stc, with plenty in
store if I want to, surprise anyone with a smart turn of speed. to balance I will have a sliding
lead acid battery. probably 12 volt. I can all ways change it to 6volt.
I may omit the central rudder, and make the two outer ones larger.
the turning circle having been described as large.
All in the future, I am still waiting on the xmas post.
What is your pond like for weeds etc.

All sounds interesting but I wouldn't cast anything in stone until you have the kit and taken measurements to actually see what "hardware" you can fit in the hull.

Wise words. that I do not all ways follow, I tend to be impatient, want to see the finished product.
As I will have to use 35mm diameter props I will measure the tunnels first, before ordering,
as I will be using 5 bladed props,
Any photos of your version would be great.

Glad you have taken the advice on board I think we all have premonitions prior to actually getting down to making a model I know I have.
You may have to reconsider your size of props although I am no expert. David Merriman found for his pump jets a two vane prop did the job best which is what I have fitted to my Seaview. However you may have other ideas of propulsion and experiments could be interesting !!
As asked I have tried to upload photos without success of my Seaview but I think they have changed the system on the site since I posted the thread on my Kilo build. Like yourself I am an oldie now 79 yrs and more of a pencil and paper person than a computer buff !! {:-{

Do not worry about , night owling, we all do it at our age, I am 76,
I allways have an hour on the bed in the afternoon, as advised by my, surgery nurse, "she added with a smile", and I mean alone!!
I will not cut off the top if I can get away with it as, it will not help the integrity of the hull,
The difference between the two builds will be interesting, and will be helpful to both of us,
nice modelling though, on yours I will have to take a lot of care, as photos show up any blemishes,
I was up at 4a.m. to day, so if I shout loud enough, you may hear me,
