Post by: lunganu on January 18, 2014, 03:54:02 am
Hello my name is catalin and I am a ship modeller from constantza romania.first of all I want to apologize for my bad english(i learn it myself).now I am building an atd tug named broward (my work can be seen on rhcforum section "modele civile"topic"remorcherul broward")but the lack of plans is a big problem.anyway im building it with what I have.searching on the web for the ga plans and hull lines of the polarcus boats all I can find is the related ship bourbon orca and guess where I find  it? Here so I join the forum and hope that I can find some help here.thanks and best regards to you all.btw happy new year!

Welcome to Mayhem Catalin. Your English is much better than my Romanian :-)  If you have any questions all you have to do is ask, there will almost certainly be someone able to help.

Peter.

If its an Ulstein design you won't find much in the way of plans- they don't let them out. Apart from here take a look at this site..

http://www.osv-society.info/

Its a german site so may be of help to you. But welcome to Mayhem and hope you have a pleasant time browsing the forums, I've spent hours reading and still have many more topics to check out.

Hi Catalin,

Your English is pretty good matey ........... There are  plenty of English people who struggle with it............ and my grasp of the Romanian language is pretty well no existent ........ So you are doing ok.

I'll look forward to seeing this build coming on.

Hello again.this is it  viking's new bow.next filler and a lot of sanding.one question should i cover the body with fiberglass or just with resin?
Title: Re: seven viking
Post by: tweety777 on April 22, 2015, 08:02:44 pm
Nice build so far!

I would recommend adding fibreglass as well because it makes the hull more durable and also gives more protection when another boat smashes into your boat.
I would also recommend using some sort of injection resin to protect the wood when the fibreglass and resin are cracked.

Greetings Josse

Its coming along well, really looking the part now Catelin.

I recently was sent a full size (A0) PDF file of line plans for this type of hull from a person in Holland who shall remain nameless ok2 As they say, if I told you, I'd have to kill you :-)) I've no idea how they came by them but for those wanting to build one they are gold as (Ulstein) do not let these out. I've erased the identifiers in the corner O0

This is going to be my main build for the next year or two beginning in the new year.

Hi Catlin

For more informmation, try sneding some photos to the company to show that you are not a time waster, they may send you some photos and posibly drawings

Your build is superb, the static model pays tribute to your skills, the pics of the planking very good, wish mine were like that.

Hope this helps

Mark

I was late to the party again Catalin and have missed an interesting build log. I loved seeing the frames of your sailing Seven, it looked a bit like the second death star under construction! What an interesting shape, those 'D' hulls are popular on Mayhem at the moment what with Kenny's build and the one Brian 60 is doing currently. She looks great on the water.

I look forward to seeing your other builds on here in the future.
