Thanks,
Nige

I got the futaba kit off ebay for my skysports 4. It was about £3.50.
-
Think you missed the point Shane the gentleman wants self centering on both sticks

Nige,
Have a look at http://www.technobots.co.uk/index.html?lang=en-uk&target=d207.html (http://www.technobots.co.uk/index.html?lang=en-uk&target=d207.html) then scroll down.
You will find the info for a spring return kit for a Futaba 6EX but its looks the same (from memory) as the skysport type.
If you open up your tx and check what the other gimball is like you can use this for comparison.
I found this site by googling "futaba spring". There may be other sites.
Hope this helps
Terry.

Thats great Terry, thanks. I took the back of my TX and it all looks the same so I have ordered 2 kits (and a multimeter as minimum order was £10 ;D)
It looks fiddly but will be worth it.
Thanks to all who replied. Its what the forum is all about.

Well, got my 2 kits but there is no pin for the arm to pivot and no hook and screw for the other end of the spring >:(
The guys at Technobots say they have never been asked for these bits and are going to contact Ripmax as I am going to do.
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this.

I got a Futaba 9c from Formby models about 18 months ago , As they knew I did boats they asked me if I req the kit for throttle, and it arrived with it free of charge. they said they got them all the time for people.

Hi Peter, can I ask what was in the bag?
Nige
-
Plastic arm not shore if it was one or two and a spring.. if you look at the right hand stick , its the bits to make them the same ,the 9c may be different . I have fitted some years ago to futaba and they only req 1 arm and spring, and the removal of a metal ratchet.

Thanks Peter, mine is the Skysport 6, it looks the same but maybe is different, I will ring Ripmax tommorow, will let you know the outcome.

Hi, a3nige,
Sky sport 6 to convert the stick to self center is finicky but very easy if you have the correct kit then on the 'arm' at the thick end there is a small pin (all part of the arm)
This in turn will locate into a grove that is to the bottom of the "pot" and over to the side , the spring will fit onto the small hook like end of the arm and locate on the slide part of the tension adjuster which fits via the screw,
It will be an exact replica of the other stick so study that to familiarise yourself before you start.
I converted capt jacks trany a short while ago.
Richard,
-
Oh forgot to mention I dabbed a small blob of glue onto the hook and spring then fed the arm into place.
The glue made sure that the spring stayed on the hook, as several attempts before this drove me up the wall every time the spring came off the hook.
Richard,
-
And very kind of you to ;D
-
Another option could be to buy a whole stick unit, if it's available - or even a second hand Skysport 6 from ebay (other internet auction sitea are also available.) ...... Sorry, thought this was the BBC for second! ::)
-
Hi Richard, thanks for the info, I understand what you are saying, the trouble is I have no pin and no tension adjuster, only a arm (with a hole at the none spring end) and a spring.
-
That is another option Martin ;D

Hi, sounds like you have the wrong kit ???
capt jack got his from Westbourne's well I picked it up and fitted it for him.
I know that you are not near that shop so the only thing I could offer is to locate a sky sport stockist in your area
Sorry,
Richard,
-
Evening, it sounds as if you are correct Richard, your kit had a 'cast in' pin whereas I have got a hole :-[
Didn't get chance to phone Ripmax today but have found a list of dealers for Yorkshire so will do some ringing tommorrow.
"And so, the saga continues, tune in tommorrow for the next thrilling instalment"
;D ;D ;D ;D

Try shops that sell rc cars as they all need self centre sticks.

UPDATE !!!!
Phoned Ripmax today and the kit I bought is the wrong one for my transmitter. Correct one on its way.

Well, got my kit today from Westbourne's and had it fitted in about 15 min's, it's fiddly but with some small snipenose pliers no problem. It looked at first as if I would have to remove the whole stick unit but not so, the new arm slides nicely into place and then its a matter of connecting the spring, job done. Thanks for all that helped on this, I hope it will be of value to someone else. The part number required for a Skysport 6 is :- Y-MA8036 'Spring return kit for ST 36'.
Thanks

I have a Skysport 6 (T6YFK) TX (purchased about 6 or 7 years ago) and recently obtained a Y-MA8036 spring return kit after a months wait. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be the right kit for my TX. It appears that the axle on the stick is too big for the arm. Am I doing something wrong or is there another kit for this TX?
My local model shop can't get a kit without knowing the part number! :(

Is it possible to go the other way and get a ratchet (or two) kit for a Futaba 6EXA or 6EXP, so I'd have non centering sticks on left and right?
Andy
-
Hi Andy,
I'll do you a swap - I have ratchets on both stick on my 6EXAP and want to change them both to centering. I'll have your spring centers and you can have my ratchetS
-
Ah, problem there, Wombat. I haven't bought the gear yet! ::) I'm going to get the restoration done first, and it's taking a bit longer than I thought it might.
Does answer my question, though, you can have a ratchet on both sticks. Did yours come like that or did you have them fitted? And I was wondering why you wanted to go back to centering? I'd have thought non-centering sticks would have been easier for a twin throttle set up.
Cheers
Andy
-
Ahh, well - cut back to plan A.....
The set came with one stick self centering and one on ratchet - I got a Robbe F1545 from Westbourne to do the conversion.
I find the ratchets on the twin screws a bit of a pain - but if I get a self centering kit, it does mean I can try both alternatives and see what I prefer.
-
Last question! Easy job to do? [or maybe if I buy it from Westbourne, they could could fit it before delivery!]
Thanks
Andy
-
Replacing the spring return with a rachet - dead easy - took me about five minutes.
-
To get self centering sticks on the skysport just remove the spring and lratchet assembly which is very eary to do.
R,
-
On my Skysport if you remove the ratchet without adding a spring return arrangement the stick just flops about - not what I'm after at all. :(
Cheers
Doug
