Title: AUCTION HOUSE FINDS
Post by: Neil on March 01, 2014, 05:23:38 pm
Just found these two cracking models of Isle of Mann Steamers, Lady of Mann and Benn My Chree in a local auction house..won't say which one because I fancy a crack at them.......

I know,I know............ not my usual charitable self but they are real crackers and fancy them, although I think they are static models, but very nicely made.

They look nice Neil, Good luck.

If you did want them to be secret though you need to remove the auction label from the pictures, 2 minutes Googling and I found them, Don't worry, I'm not bidding. :-)

Always good for a Sunday morning laugh guys... {-) Martin, Chris, Nick & Neil.......  what a 3/4's of a an intelligent foursome they would make O0 ...

However......just digressing a little.....where do these Auction Houses find multiple examples of model vessels that clearly are not toys  :o
Could they be offered by those museums that Colin suggested no longer found them interesting to the public?

So if Nick   :embarrassed: ....is really Neil's non deplume [spy name]  8) ....could we not ask Nick to solve the riddle of the source of these models?........  Derek

Hi Derek........this auction house specialises in house clearences when the deceased's rellies just put the whole lot up for auction.....so they will be the love and hard work of some sad ol geezer who's kids couldn't give a monkey's about their old man's prides and joy......and they get sold on.....these will probably go for around 200 quid each max......usually a real snip.
best wishes,

Mataharri

Thats where I got the HMS Lagos at an auction house,it and about 20 other models were sitting in amongst household furniture,...there were 3 or 4 big lifeboats including an Arun 52, a Trent, and a St Charles they were full rc all singing and dancing...and 3 of them went for less than £400....i also picked up a canal barge..153cm long full rc with sound and smoker, and 4ch transmitter...i got it for £32 +.20% commision but the best buy was an Engel Gato complete with everything in it,and its been built to a very good standard..it came with an F14 transmitter,..and it cost less than you,d pay for a  Robbe type7 kit....There was an HMS Victory,it was 120cm long by 100cm high built to museum quality, also included was a through section model, showing below decks,it was in a perspex case as was the Victory....hammer price £100..there was also a model of a tall ship...90cm long in a glass case, in museum quality...hammer price £32...yes auction houses can be great places for models

It only takes 2 people to make a good auction, so if you happen to be the only one really interested in a particular item you can pick up a bargain. If, on the other hand Nick, Matahari, Neil was there, you could end up paying through the nose :o

Hope the suggested lot price scares off many Neil (Nick, Nell or whomever), certainly a top ender in comparison to the rest of the lots.   :o

I shall be enquiring later today ( if open) or tomorrow when they are, as to what the expectation is, and what reserve. they know me down there.bought a few models and sold them on so they have no probs disclosing the reserve to me.

weel we couldnae be any wurse aff than we are now..what wi Cameron and his rich pals giving everybody's money awa...the problem is he gives it tae the wrang anes....whilst Somerset droons..they're giving millions in overseas aid.....and this money is yours and mine....then there's the state owned bankers giving themselves millions in bonuses,.....and allowing child benefit to be paid, to immigrants whose children aren't even in this country....whilst they cut benefits to our own....
