Hi all
Another newbie here saying hi. Just got into the hobby and enjoying making all the newbie mistakes (like wondering why your motor dies after a few second even with the second battery in, then realising both batteries had not been charged as I had not pressed the right buttons on my charger the night before. )
Currently getting my Springer tug to completion (Started sea trials) and have a tug waiting to be built.
Not joined a local club yet as there is two on the local water - main choice is either the Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon lot.

Sunday afternoon gets my vote, but I am biassed.....

Lol, I was there this Sunday afternoon for a bit with the Springer first sea trials with all the crowds and pedalows. It was when I got home what I discovered battery charging issues!

It's now not so manky looking so the old boys should not complain as much but won't be there this Sunday as got to go to lunch with the mother in law >:-o
Still, it does give me more time to finish painting and tidying it up before it's second set of sea trials

Looks like it should be tied up in the Camber, wouldn't look out of place...that may not sound like a complement but it probably is!

No probs - I have gone for the authentic Portsmouth tug look. Well that's my excuse for the bad paint job and murky windows!
Now time to start on my next one, this time with a lot more electronic and gizmos to go wrong

Managed to get to the lake on Sunday afternoon. Windy with choppy waves, just what I needed to test the water tightness of the tug. Only one other person about and he was using a sailboat so there was no one really to run into/get in the way of/make mistakes in front of. Hardly a drop made it in which I was happy with considering what probably makes up the lake water. Only a few snags occurred, the prop is useless in reverse ( new prop on order with a bigger pitch), it chewed through a 7.2 v NiCad in about under 20 minutes ( got a 6v lead acid gel to try) and the rough conditions dislodged the battery which broke a wire to the motor. Nothing to do with my spirited piloting - the springer surfs quite well and ploughs through the waves rather pleasingly :D

Ready ish. If I can fix the astern issue as its a tadge difficult to stop!
