Probably get my head ripped off again but here goes.
Anyone know of suppliers of air vacuum pumps, water pumps etc in the UK please. Trawling thru the web yesterday all I get are American sites that cost about $40 dollars to have the stuff shipped to the UK or RC-Models in Honk Kong. Doesn't anyone in the UK do this stuff?

Its for my Sheerline.
My mock up ballast tank has, at the moment a pump that hangs on the side of the tank with a solenoid valve acting as a main vent.
So main vent opens and tank floods. shutting the valve when depth required has been achieved. pump is activated to vacate tank of water.
I want to refine it a bit by putting in a reversible water pump (Now sourced from RC-models) But I also wanted to put in a vacuum air pump to act as a compressor to fill an air tank so I can put a blow on the tank. The one I wanted was the one sold on the Sub-driver site

But the postage seems horrendous so was trying to source elsewhere .

It will take you a while to pump out a tank with that model, it's for smaller systems.

So. That's not a lot of power, a smaller pump will draw less current but will have to run for longer, so the amount of power consumed will still be the same e.g. work done.

For air pump, battery operated car tyre inflator? Old hat but reliable.

Piston based tyre compressors have an advantage when you want higher pressures e.g. over about 1 atmosphere. Apart from that they tend to be less well made, less efficient, much higher in vibration owing to higher mass and need lubricating.
The diaphragm models weren't available until a few years ago, for lower pressure systems they're excellent at moving air about. They're also relatively safe, as they can't make high pressures, so you don't generally need to worry about safety valves, pressure relief.

Agreed the tyre inflatters tend to be very Heath Robinson and vibrate a lot but good idea
