Title: Hms Sir Kay restoration

Hi just bought my second Royal Navy Vessel Hms Sir Kay she has been in the display team for a good few years and has not been repainted since 2007. She is starting to flake a bit now and wondered what is the best way to patch her up for this years displays and then strip her hull back in the winter for a new coat. Thanks Mark

Spent ages sanding the hull down today and i am left with this. Question is do i spend another week getting it all off or if i smooth further with various wet and dry could i paint over the top?

Keep going I say simple because if you prime over the excisting paint there is evey chance of a reaction and if it doesnt react boy oh boy.it will look pants....well worth the extra effort to do it right

I took a 57" e-boat back to gel coat by careful scraping and sanding, I didn't want to use chemicals for that task in case of permanent damage to the grp. It took months! If you want to do a job properly there is no substitute for patience - its well worth it in the end.
