hi sunliner , i think sirmar is no longer trading and fleetscale have taken over some of what they use to produce.

They do have a website but if you press on the fitting section there is nothing in the section to buy.

Just been on Sirmars web site, ok2 and looks pretty good to me, with prices, fittings, hulls, kits all as usual.
Maybe a quick read of the home page would be helpful. :o
Good stuff as far as I'm concerned :-))
cheers

do you have inside knowledge as to the contrary Paul, as posts in the past on here and Warships.com have all suggested this.............perhaps you could enlighten us to the contrary as I myself could so with some fittings..

Website looks live Neil,
Has anyone tried the oldfashioned method of phoning and talking
to Barry rather than emails?

TY , Paul to such a warm welcome to the forum.

I was answering the post question to the best of my knowledge , and as you say rumours can be bad for any business so if im wrong then i will apologise to sirmar on here and to them direct.

The points of the question that was brought up was he had an old model boat magazine, and was the company still in business. to that i gave my opinion.

The person posting also lives the other side of the world and can not walk down to the factory to see if its open.

I do not only believe in rumours but also go by facts -

http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6208 (http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6208)  in this article barry states he has taken over the company and redone the website and prices will be added later ( 3 post from the end) it is dated sept 2010 .

Up until now there are no prices for fitting on the web site , only for the big kits - and i don't believe any company trading in 2014 would not put prices on there goods or not have the facilities set up to pay by credit card

I may be wrong , but if everyone had to be 100% correct on everything before posting then no one would be able to talk on here.

This is how small businesses are killed off.
A lot of us on here know a lot of the history from when Paul Beckley started the company and its difficulties.
Now the company is just ticking over as Barry is only working on Sirmar on weekends.
"I think Sirmar is no longer trading" is a very dangerous statement to make and I personally have no sympathy for any flak coming your way.
New or not Mayhem is here to PROMOTE model boating not hurting small manufacturing companies with your ill informed, dangerous half baked opinions.

But not on everything.

this can go on all day saying yes and no , i've tried ringing their number and it goes to a no name answer phone to find out the answer so until someone from sirmar comes on to clear this up the answer is nobody knows.

as i have said , if I'm wrong i will correct my earlier statement.

I may be wrong , but if everyone had to be 100% correct on everything before posting then no one would be able to talk on here.

I can think of a number of businesses that don't set up facilities for credit cards and all of them bona fide.  I can think of a number of threads on here and other sites that have recently stated to have bought goods from Barry.  As for not answering the phone his web site does say he works in a full time job.  You say you have tried ringing but have you left a message asking him to call you? And if so has he called you and said he is no longer trading?  Or has he not answered you?  Last time I had any dealings with his services, granted 12 months ago, similar things had been said but all I can say is when I rang and left messages he called me back.  And I got my goods.

So until you have it on good authority and confirmed as such I don't think it wise to suggest he is no longer trading.

ok , i have just talked to Barry and made him aware of this topic and he is still trading .

Therefore i wish to say sorry to the people on this forum for misleading them and retract my earlier statement about the firm sirmar no longer trading.

I bought a hull from Barry just over two months ago, You just have to be patient as he only does it part time, I hope to get the fittings from him when I can get hold of him that is.  O0
the web site is  www.sirmarfittings.com  click on warships and the fittings and prices are listed for each ship you click on, if this helps anyone  :-))

There is more about Sirmar and Paul still on here. I'm not giving a reference as I think it's better not raked over. Having had a business go sour on me, I can assure you all that it's a very unpleasant experience. I have measure of sympathy for Paul for that reason.

I've dealt with both Pauls and Barry over theyears and never had a problem. May be a bit slow at responding to emails at times but I'm talking a few days not the "instant" response everyone expects these days.
Definitely nothing amiss with anything I bought.  :-))
