Title: Water Effects

Hi guys,
I was thinking about making a water effect, but was wondering if there was a way to remove the boat from the water effect, or if it would have to be permanently set in the stand. Any info would be appreciated.

Not quite sure what you mean Sir.

Is your aim to simulate a lifted boat from the water showing it dripping
when above the surface ?

I assume you’re talking about a diorama where you can lift the boat out to sail it (not a waterline model)
There’s lots of ways of doing this – depending on your skill levels and quality of results.
If you’re using plywood box as the base for your ‘water’ with the boat resting in it, how accurately can you jigsaw the hole for the hull? You can use a skirting board/profile gauge to get the waterline shape of your boat and then fettle for a precise fit. Then it’s just a matter of creating your water surface on the top of the box. Blocks inside the box will support your boat at the right level in the ‘water’.

One tip I found was to wrap the model's hull in Clingfilm(Saran Wrap in the USA) when modelling the water, to prevent the "water" materiel from sticking to the hull.
