I have a FG Baja 4WD.
Just done a total strip and rebuild.
Its pretty much standard apart from shock upgrades and the wide wheels not only at the back but at the front too.
Love it, real good model and real good fun.
-
any chance of pictures ?- is it massively different to the other baja cars around, i am fairly new to 1/5th scale....about a year.....
i know there are a fair few baja models about, lots of chinese copies/ clones, ?- i did however opt for the HPI version.....
FG have been around a while i know that much, my son wants a FG monster truck now too !!!... but would love ot see pictures of your machine.. i guess its about 28 cc or bigger ?

1 mcd cheetah monster truck and an old aeromarine sprint cat from a few years back, loved the boat, very quick in its day :-)
-
Nice mcd
-
is a great truck, expensive but very quick, ongoing project, will be a lot quicker..... or break transmission <:(
-
Yes v nice MCD and the boat too :-))
-
Getemuphigh, , love the FG !!!- but its soooo clean...... O0
cant keep my baja that clean.... :((
-
Don't worry it's been dirty when run off road on the local woodland trails, great fun!
It's just had a full strip, clean and rebuild so that's why it's so clean now but always like to keep it clean and tidy anyways.
Also I might be selling it soon so wanted to make sure all was ok.

thanks :-) originally mcd was a sport version monster truck, but now upgraded to cheetah and comp version apart from shocks, plus alloy diff housings, front rear and centre (optional from rc force) boat is worse for wear nowadays, kept it in loft for umpteen years, started 1st time last year, just replaced fuel tank and radio/receiver, all 3 servos ok, not had a chance to run it yet though :((
-
recently got this :-)

to go with this :-)

both great trucks ok2

I used to have a fg monster truck many years ago, didn't really get to far into it, bought a mcd v4 monster truck with brushless conversion, bought loads of upgrades for it just waiting on a new motor and esc to arrive so should be alot quicker once it's done.
-
very cool car
-
I have had Losi 5t,Baja 5b and a hormann ht2,used to love racing, but got sick of cleaning all the mud and gunk off them, soon to start petrol powerboat racing.

makes sense as I already have the petrol version :-)
-
Picking it up at the weekend robw, are you going brushless because of noise issues, not cheap doing 1/5 scale brushless
-
Just noticed you already have a petrol,my mate did a brushless conversion on his hormann,i know it cost him quite a few hundred pounds, what with the cost of the motor,esc,batteries,10 minutes was about the maximum run time
-
I have the motor esc and batteries already, I bought them for the black "cheetah" I posted on this thread a while ago, I just need to buy the conversion, I can get 2x 8s 5000mah batteries in the battery box, run time was roughly 30mins though not flat out all the time, I now have bought a 10s 10,000mah and a 12s 8000 mah battery, these are the biggest batteries I can physically get in the box, not sure what damage will be done on them batteries though
-
I am impressed by 30 minute run times,12s battery could be interesting
-
batteries in parallel for the 30mins, I think something will break, ive upgraded all the transmission as much as I could but may not be enough, will be fun finding out
-
As you know you can only put so much power through your drive train, too much you start stripping spur gears or shredding your diff,i would stick with your 2 8s,in comparison to say a 26cc Zenoah do the 8s give similar top end speed
-
the brushless cheetah is a lot quicker all round the acceleration is instant and very quick, the mcd has 3 diffs and 4 metal gears so i'm hoping they will be man enough for the job, the propshafts, though upgraded may be the weak point, only one way to find out :-)
-
Best of luck,at the end of the day nothing is bullet proof, but if you have upgraded the main weak points then hopefully you should have no real drama
-
here's mine.
26cc 2 stroke petrol. Biggest problem with these things is somewhere to run it >:-o
