The only plastic kit I know of is Dragon's 1/700th scale Type 42 Batch 1 which is representing HMS Sheffield. If you're looking for a large scale sailing model, several companies make hulls for Type 42s but not sure which batchs they make. Several companies make RN fittings in different scales. Fleetscale, Sirmar to name a couple.

Hi Mike.
I am assuming you want to have a radio controlled model of the sheffield. Unfortunately It does`nt come as a kit ie all parts in a box but as as whats called a semi-kit.
You have to purchase individual components from separate suppliers the (1) Grp hull and plans, (2) running gear ie(shafts, props, rudders) (3) the fittings, and (4) plastic card to fabricate the superstructure from scratch.
have a look at this thread so you can see how you would go about it.

so is this partial kit from deans ?
Have looked on their site but cant seem to find

Sirmar do a 1/96 type 42 hull and fittings. Fleetscale do a type 42 1/72 semi kit. Jecobin do plans of Sheffield but at a much smaller scale. There are plans for Exeter and York at 1/96 which might be usable but you would need plenty of photographs of Sheffield for detail.
IMO semi kits are not an good option for a beginner but you never know until you try.
Good luck

Hi Mike
That was my thread of HMS Coventry that accompanied HMS Sheffield at the Falklands the hull is from Sirmar, as will be the fittings later this month, the build is on hold at the moment while I finish my tug build I'm not aware of any type 42 full kits but if I can help you with anything just ask, I'm on holiday at the moment so I don't log in every day,
Joe.

Hi Mike.
Went into the archives for a pic what you may be able to get is a PBM kit or old built model as there was one came up on flea bay recently. You could always ask if any body on here has one.
