Is there anyone going to the exhibition in April the dates are 15-19th ,or has anyone been and how did thy travel .I was thinking of going just doing a costing exercise. I know everyone's interests are different could it be done in a day or would it be better over a few days .

i will be there all week.... in Hall 5
there are a few ways to travel....
Dortmund has it's own Airport..
Ferry's:
Newcastle - Amsterdam
Hull - Rotterdam
Harwich - Hoek van Holland
Dover - Calais
Dover - Dunkerque
wether it can be done in a day depends on your interests..!
if it is just boats, then yes it can probably done in a day..!

Hi David 48. To much to for one day I did two days at this show from opening time to closing time and still wished I had done three days.

HI David 48 We flew from Manchester to Dusseldorf with British Airways about one hour flying time then train to Dortmund. It is a few years ago since I did this event not sure of costs now. You may get a deal with low cost airlines if you would like to travel this way all depends on your budget

The Peterborough Area Model Boat Club usually have a stand at Intermodellebau in Hall 5, the boat hall. We are proposing to take part in the show next year although detailed planning has not yet started. That said, we are likely to travel to Dover to catch a ferry to Calais on the outbound leg. The return trip will depend on ferry timings but may well be from Dunkirk to Dover, sailing in the early hours of Monday 20 Apr 15.
In previous years, some of us have travelled to Dortmund by air but, more recently, flight times and cost have shown surface travel to be a more convenient and cost effective option for us.
The comments in the preceding posts are concurred, you really need to spend at least 2 days at the show to see everything. If you choose to visit Intermodellebau, next year, do make time visit the PAMBC stand where you will be made to feel very welcome.

I have quite a large amount of Avios points so I will contact them , I have used them before for various trips all worked well . I think I will be useing Newcastle as it is the nearest ferry terminal to Aberdeenshire. On reflection there might be enough points to fly .

i go every year arriving thursday leaving sunday 2 days in the show find its hard work on feet so much to see .i fly from edinburgh to dortmund or cologne/bohn then direct ice train to dortmund have tried weez and hire car as well .get in touch if you want more help or info i stay near kinnross/loch leven

Don't even think about doing it in a day unless you're a masochist <*<
Flying would probably give you about 6 or 7 hours at the show with 8 halls to look around - you'd need to be fast. Also if you should buy one of the bargains, how would you get it home (assuming it came in a biggish box).
Two days absolute minimum, preferably three is my recommendation having been for the last 9 years (I know I'm a glutton for punishment).

The U-Bahn ride is less than 10 minutes from the centre if you want to try further afield
