I was in Portsmouth Dockyard today (24/9/14), I often go in for a coffee, HMS Dragon was alongside still with her red dragon painted on her bow. I thought she had to lose that when she entered service, but obviously not. Does anyone know why she was allowed to keep it?

Wierd, was not on there when I was last on it earlier this year. Then again I think she has been away so it might of been repainted as part of the home coming. There is lots of 'dragon' themed stuff on the ship though the captain had to laugh when I pointed out his cushions had wyverns not dragons on them when I was in his cabin trying to sort out a electrical fault.
It does look good though!

Hi.
Its quite a detailed piece of art work when you see it close up, wondered if they have a stencil and rattle can to re apply or is it decal or iron on transfer.
here with defender in the fitting out dock.

Interesting...I didn't realise that the British Type 45 destroyers had facility for below deck mooring...makes a lot of sense :-)) .... Derek
