Title: Traplet Gentlemans Runabout
Post by: Mike0001 on December 19, 2014, 11:00:08 pm
Hello again

So while the paint is drying on my first ever build the pilot boat, thought I would be a bit more ambitious and try the Gentlemans runabout.

First off thanks to Clive ( spindrift ) for a valuable resource of his build of this boat, if I can get close to his final build I will be over the moon.

So what made me buy this boat..... well it looks lovely and I want to learn how to deck . Plus it was only 12 pounds..... what can you get for 12 pounds in this day and age that will keep me occupied for as long  %%

so first off what do you get... well 4 sheets of cutouts which make up this

so I will be after tips for decking from you guys and hope you enjoy the build once I get going

still working on this one but came up against an issue with putting in the 1/8 balsa frame strips

noticed on the 3rd frame its a bad fit, now I checked to make sure frames were level when glued but seems to be out somewhere

can I simply cut groove further down to accommodate the strip more easily

hopefully someone has came up against this in  their own build

pic to show what I mean 3rd frame from right will not fit into 4th frame

Do you have any Plan or instructions in the kit?,  also can you show a picture of what the boat looks like.
Is it not being built on a Building Board?. Remember the saying, check and check again before fitting, not sure if I just made that up.

this is a dry test, the part I am fitting is the strip round the edge, it fits perfectly every where else apart from the 3rd frame, I have full plans, photos of another build
