I have recently bought a partially completed Precedence Perkasa 49.5 inches with the
Wooden hull,now it has 3 graupner speed 600 Eco motors 7.2volt,it has a Action Electronics P92 board with 2 x Action electronics P80 speed controllers.
Now battery wise i believe i can run 6-9.6 volts,but has anybody any recommendations i.e 2s lipo or 8.4volt nimh,i am after run time rather than flat out speed.
Most info i can find is for only 2 motors,i know the eco motors are not as power hungry as some motors but
Even with a 2s 6000mah Lipo surely i will still have a fairly short run time.
Any advice appreciated

You could in fact run 3s lipos as the P80 are rated for 12v 12 motors will take 12v as well
In fact I would guess your running time would be in excess of an hour
The one you have bought off me used to run on a single 900 motor on 24v with the prop and shaft that are in it obviously water cooled Batts were nimh 12v 4200 and i use to get 45 mins FLAT OUT with the boat planing,if I pootled around then in excess of an hour was well possible

This is where i get confused by electrics,the motors are 7.2 volt rated with a recommended
Range of 6 to 9.6 volts,so surely even though the esc will take the power would it not burn out the
Motors as 11.1 volts is a 3s voltage

Do you know what batteries were originally suggested ?
7.2v NIMH (6 cells) ?
6-cell NIMH can be replaced by two LiPo cells (7.4v). No problem.
Just make sure your ESC has a low-voltage alarm/safety. Small external alarms (which plug on the battery's balance pour) can be had for a few bucks if your ESC lacks such a feature.
