Hi everyone,
I am currently building a "Sun" tug and wish to instal navagation lights on her.
Can someone please supply a very simple diagram to show what resistors I need?
The tug will be powered by a 6volt 10Ah SLA for motor and lights to save having 2 power supplies. The whole of the superstructure has been built to lift off as one piece so I guess I will have to have a connector block to connect light wires to battery. Please do not tell me about the formula for working out what resistors I need.(I have tried to get my old brain around that but still cannot understand it).So-What resisters do I need? Does each LED need it's own resister? Mast will be a solid plastic one so how do I route the light wires down it?
Thank you in anticipation.

Here is an option for you
Assuming you just want Steaming , port and starboard and stern lights
http://www.smallscalelights.co.uk (http://www.smallscalelights.co.uk)
They do 6 volt white red and green 3mm leds with a short cable,
You can then wire them together with a switch and fuse directly to your battery.

LED Resistors for 6v
Yellow/Red 220ohm 1/8watt
White/Green 150ohm 1/8watt :-)

Hi I was advised that red=200, yellow=180, green& white=150, hope this help.

Thank you to the three answers to my query. Unfortunately neither have suggested a wiring diagram. thanks all the same.

Hi,
The reason for the ones I suggested is that you have just the LEDs with an included suitable resistor inside the LED.
Each LED can be chosen with a short 2 wire lead of red and black.
You have to extend , as necessary , the red wire of each LED to a switch, then to a fuse and then to the battery positive terminal.
All the black wires are joined together and taken to the battery negative terminal.
2 whites , a red and green LED will give you the minimum tug lighting of a steaming light, stern light and port and starboard lights.
There are other combinations of lights required for certain jobs.
These can be arranged and turned on by another switch, fed through the same fuse.
A fuse of 2 amps will be more enough to drive many of these LEDs
Is that more helpful to you?
Just ask if you want more.

I though I posted a photo yesterday... very strange.

Okay, to be sure, I see the photo posted above.

Hi. If you go to the Components web site, then click on useful info, there is all the info you will need. The basic running lights when towing, 3white mast lights, red & Green nav lights, stern lights white over yellow. l hope this helps

Hi guys,
Once again many thanks for your contributions. I think I have enough now to fit and light them up,. Will certainly look at the Component Shop. I have ordered various bits from them before and know they give good service.
Thanks all for your help.
