Hi guys, i want to do plastic kit heli for the Seabex, the supplied heli is just too boring, what do you suggest, was looking at the Westland Seaking, what do you guys suggest?
-
Graupner's choice to present the ship in 1/72nd scale gives you a whole range of possible options. For North Sea operations a civilian Puma would work well or the passenger version of the Sea King. Revell's Sikorski Sky Crane with a cargo pod would be unusual or perhaps a float version of the Huey. You might also consider one of the civilian Russian freight helicopters.

Before any things it is necessary to know which maximum weight is authorized on the hélideck
Then you look for which biturbine enter this weight.
No military copter
-
How about a passenger version of the Merlin EH, or a Westland 30?
I think there should be plenty to choose from in 1:72nd scale.
:-)
-
That Merlin looks good.

Well, I'll be !!!!!!
I am at present scratch building the Seabex One and had the same problem. I've spent a lot of time looking and researching this helicopter and have come up with the following one.
It is exactly scaled at 1:72, whereas some others were listed as such but proved too long for the helli pad space. This one is by Italeri and costs 20 pounds, and this is a far I've got at the moment. It looks an exact replica according to the drawings but as you are looking for a different model, then I wish you luck.
Cheers

should have fitted flashing led's and a main rotor motor, brings it to life %)
-
Here is the helicopter nearly finished, to show the overall look. It really is rather fragile for those extra add on's like rotating blades or lights.

Actually they are quite stable, i,ve built a lynx with leds and rotors and that is about 3/4 the size, just need to think about where to run the wire and nowadays leds flash, so no little 555 circuit boards to fit as well, motors can be those used in mobile phone vibrators - tricky bit is removing the counterbalance weight without destroying the motor windings, even did a seahawk and then blew the motor - bah humbug
-
at this price you can afford to damage one or two! I did have a link to the motors without the weight but can't find it now......

Far too big your helicopters
-
Here's one I did many, many, many years ago :D
paint finish needs a bit of work and the front bit fell off (a little piece of plasticard as a pitot), but you get the idea

The helicopter of friendly, too big one for the SEABEX ONE

oooo, I like that one, here's my version, its more finished with the decals, though it does really need to have the motor replaced (I burnt it out - one of the small phone motors) the lights work on the tail and at the sides, was a b*****r to do though
-
That sikorsky can be seen flying out of Humberside airport everyday. There are five or more flights every morning out to the gas and oil storage rigs. Of course they are not all flown by the same company, last time I was in the airport there were flights from three seperate companies listed.
One point to mention is where in the world would you be depicting the Seabex operating? What I'm getting at is, if its operating in the far east then its no good showing a helicopter in the livery of a company that only operates in the north sea.
-
So come on KEN where is the BUILD LOG for this Sea Bex you are building come on show us all.
Dave
-
OK I'll see what I can do.
I've been building it purely from pictures gathered on the web, as per my usual cheap way of doing things. I was getting on fair until I ran my thumb through the circular saw and sliced off the top diagonally, just missing the nail. It's been three weeks now before I can do up buttons on my clothes so the construction work has been on hold. I've started by trying a kit helicopter and got on alright.
They said I can play the organ now so that's the signal to start building again. I will start a thread soon. Sorry to interrupt this thread Rias. :-)
Cheers

Hi Ken,
Link for stickers, transfers. I'm sure this was the shop who once supplied a superstructure.

Regarding Graupner Seabex one, the scale was 1/75
