Title: chargers with power supply leads

I have spent 6 hours on Google trying to find a suitable charger, have learned many things including watch out for clones. What I cant find is a charger that I can plug in and charge. Why do they not supply a power lead (transformer) I mean everyone does not cart car batteries around with them.

I hope that one of our learned mayhemers can cast some light on this subject. I am new to lipoly and its likely that I am missing some thing.

You've probably discovered by now that LiPo chargers are mainly designed for fast-charging, typically at the lakeside or on the flying field, so mains power isn't an option. There are, however, several LiPo chargers here which run directly from the mains, as well as others with optional AC power supplies. http://www.componentshop.co.uk/chargers/lipo (http://www.componentshop.co.uk/chargers/lipo)
A 12v 'field' charger with a separate mains power supply unit is the best option in my opinion.

and you have a guarantee and a
guy on the end of the phone to sort
out any problems you may have.

Just make sure the one you buy is not a cheapo
Remember, you are using volatile batteries that
need to be charged in a safe manner.

I have been able to order a charger to my satisfaction so I thank all those who answered for their time and effort. My local boat club has facilities for using chargers so I can recharge at lakeside if required.

It has been an interesting journey from ignorance to to apprenticeship and only made possible with the help and support of forum members.

And, if you want to charge more than one pack at the same time, you'll find that basic charger just takes two, three or four times (for the number of packs) the times to charge a single pack because the charger only packs 50 to 100 watts if you're lucky

High capacity mains and dc supply chargers are like hens teeth and always have been even in my car racing days. Those dual charger that are out there rarely have the power to charge multiple packs in an hour.

For my helis, I can charge six 5000mah lipo packs at 1C (30amps) in just under the hour. I use an iCharger 306B plugged into a 1200w power supply. Its not a cheap option though.

Note also that you dont want to charge lipo packs at more than 1C if you want a long life out of them.
