Title: channels reversing by themselves.
Post by: baz on July 11, 2015, 03:46:24 pm
Hi folks, has anyone ever had a problem with the channels reversing by themselves? Been testing all the controls and fitting the wiring and batteries into a trawler and when I've taken the battery out to adjust something and put it back in and connected it up again the main motor and bow thruster channels have reversed themselves!!! Have I been switching something off and on again in the wrong order? It's a Planet 5 channel 2.4ghz set.
Thanks.

Have you been turning off the transmitter before disconnecting the receiver, or receiver off first then transmitter?

Thanks.

To turn on...tx first, then rx.

To turn off...rx first, then tx.

Doesn't mean that's the answer, but I have a Multiplex set driving a tank, which did exactly that when I turned off the Tx to produce an engine shutdown effect. Upon turning the Tx back on the steering had reversed itself.

With magic modern stuff, loss of signal can result in a so-called fail safe where the receiver reverts to default conditions.  Why this is considered in any way safe or sensible beats me.

Its so you can set it up to default to throttle off when it has loss of signal....people dont appear to set radios up correctly these days and dont  find out about default / fail safe features ..which they should... aeromodellers do..
i have seen 2.4 ghz set up in correctly and go into full throttle when they loose signal and yep the do loose signal and not far away either.
Its all about knowing you gear rather than just switch on and hope for the best.
