Title: Boat Crew
Post by: coolbumble on August 12, 2015, 12:00:06 am
After trying to find or make a suitable sailor crew for my boat and failed !!
I therefore decided to do something a little different for a change and used these figures obtained from eBay. They are 6 inches tall with movable head and arms . It might be a bit to different for some but I think its fun. So posted some pictures.
The steam unit also has an electric water pump so I have positioned a bright  flashing blue led on the top of the Life buoy post to show when it is running
Op's I see I have forgotten to put the knife in the sheaf of the last guy shown will do !I am renaming the boat Anarchy Patrol !!!

Cheers to all

Well done Ian......that is a very tidy looking build  :-)).......not sure about the grog bottle  ;D ...just sitting there...it might spill over  >>:-(

I see you have a Microcosm boiler feed pump installed [140 RPM?]....what are you thoughts on pumping performance relative to you engine & steam usage?

On tests the pump copes very well with the setup.

Bonjour Ian,

Great and original idea for the crew of your beautiful launch. I also have great difficulties to find crews for my boats.

Besides this, as I also look for autonomy when possible, and even if I have electric pumps, I prefer mechanical pumps and I am fortunate to have one for my Cheddar Puffin : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnkUssS4HMg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnkUssS4HMg) (tug not finished, water coming from the pond through a little filter)

Hi Derek
Yes it is and useful as a "bleed" valve. The water comes from a tube near the rear of the launch and via a filter. The small tap is originally a aquarium fitting .
Regards
Ian
