Title: Noisy drive train
Post by: sparkey on August 17, 2015, 06:20:41 pm
 My normally silk smooth drive train on my Areonuit Princess sports boat has developed a noisy drive train,I have checked the oil in prop shaft,changed the coupling for a spare and checked shaft for wear and found no wear,when I changed the prop the problem disappeared,now I don't want to dump a costly brass prop,does it need balancing or should I just count my losses and bin it,Ray. {:-{

Wouldn't hurt to try balancing it before consigning it to the scrap bin, have you run over something in the water and knocked it out of kilter?

right have you tried lossening the motor off it's mounting ...holding it to see if the noise goes away...if this is the case then the joint and motor is simply out of alignment
