It's been maybe sixty five years since my Dad made a model boat, his modelling interest in more recent times has been in live steam trains. With that in mind he though of making a standoff scale live steam tug, and the chosen design is based on ST Cervia. Scratch built from a few basic drawings using plank on frame he's done a Stirling job of a classic but awkward hull shape, and today we had it's (her ok2 ) Maiden run out our local club lake, on jury rigged electric before he settles into making the steam plant etc. and adding finer details. A little stern down to the waterline at the moment, but it was very stable and maneuvered well. He's chuffed to bits! :-)
I must say that as a sports boat modeller I found this quite engaging to watch, I'll put a video up shortly, but for now some images:

Gosh that is good going, and a really good looking model to boot. I can't wait to see the steam plant fired up.
