:o I've just seen how much a kosher Spektrum boat RX is! So can anybody please suggest a cheaper alternative? All I need (for now) is throttle and rudder ...
-
Look for Orange. Cheapest are from Hobby King's European or International Warehouses (due to postage costs UK warehouse is too expensive), or you can buy from UK suppliers via eBay.

Uk watehouse is OK if you buy a few items as its always pretty much the same price

You can also get Lemon RXs on e-bay. :-) :-)
-
Thanks chaps :-))
I'm on the case now ...

Anybody know if these (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orange-RX-GR300-3Ch-DSM2-2-4Ghz-GROUND-Receiver-Fits-DX2-DX3-Cars-Boats-UK/191688192529?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D7e888d7802a84d868731e8a41ead09d8%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D350825203993)are OK in a boat with a Spektrum DX6i?
-
I use them with a DX5e, but I think Netleyned (http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9233)[/size] uses them with a DX6i.

No they're ground receivers, they won't work with DX6i.
I use these.

I don't think they do work with the DX6i as they are designed for surface use
Better off going for the 6CH orange RX as its actually cheaper.
Currently on Backorder, but if you need one give me a shout I have several lol
-
They state DSM2 so should work .
As you say ORANGE R615s are cheaper
and if you need more channels in the future
you have them.

Thanks once again, gents :-)

When did 2.4 become ground or air use? I know some RXs are designated as "park" but I always thought that meant the distances involve!
-
Spektrum have 2 systems for surface and air designated SR and AR
SR receivers will not work with Air type transmitters (DX6i et al) and Vice versa
-
Gosh, I'm learning all sorts of stuff here! So what's the difference between "ground" gear and "air" gear then?
-
Check out the Horizon Hobby's UK web site. Obviously it wont tell you about Orange receivers %% , but may help you understand.

In Spektrum's case the Surface range are all steerwheel type controllers whereas the air stuff is traditional stick type

The orange RX GR300 3ch will not work with the DX6i I know this because I ordered 2 and had to send them back due to not binding with the transmitter, I now have 5 of these http://tinyurl.com/oep8u3y (http://tinyurl.com/oep8u3y) they work very well and are full range.
-
Thanks for that klz - details saved for my next purchase :-))

After a few bad experiences with the orangeRx (10% not working at all, another 10% with reduced range, probably antenna broken off) I switched to the LemonRX.
Cheap as the orange ones, but with lowe dropout voltage (I use them with 1s in a few models) an better parts on it and they don't seem to have quality issues.
I buy them directly at their homepage.
