can anyone tell me where i can find picture,s of a RAF RESCUE TARGET RTTL
here's hoping,
jenno.

If thats the 80ft approx sized boats I might have a photo of 2 of them in Fraserburgh harbour in the 1980's ( used to be used for anti-shipping bombing practice for the RAF Buccaneers from RAF Lossiemouth ). They looked to be pretty old even then so i'm guessing they were built in the late 1950's early 1960's and were similar in shape and performance to the MTB's of WW2 but build from steel with 3 engines.
I'm away for the weekend so i'll have a look beginning of next week.

Another thought if you are by Hendon their archives are very useful as is the RAF web site as it as an historical section which contains information about RTTL's You could also try an advert (its free) in the Navy News and RAF News both available from WH Smith at ?1.40 each. I did when I researched the Vosper MTB type II class and received some very helpful photos from private collections which otherwise would not have seen the light of day.

I passed on lots of pics of RTTL's to a chap who makes static models of them, and have built one myself, do you want me to pass on his email address to you or email him myself on your behalf.
I have some idea about then as I was their refit engineer some while ago.

There was an article in Dec 1958 Model Maker featuring Vosper RTTL 2753 and 2754 which included some photos. There was also a free plan. If you want a scan of the article I could email it to you.

There is also the film 'The Sea shall not have Them' made in the early '50's which, if I remember correctly, had a lot of on board shots. As far as I am aware, it's still available.

Definately still there, i make regular trips and take photos, still waiting for the gantry to be built so i can get up there and get some quality photos of the deck.
Shes in a bit of a state, i think they just chuck a coat of paint at her every few years.
What a shame!
