would an electric cable under two foot of water have any effect on 27 MHz and 40 MHz radios the reason I ask is that the local council have just put a water fountain on the lake gordon

We have a fountain in the middle of the lake Gordon and
We have no problems on any frequencies.

With all the cut backs I. doubt it will be operating very often anyway

if its just been put it, technically I believe it should be operating at 12v anyways due to current legislation.

One good feature is that they are water cooled O0......& when the water runs out they trip out {-)........
With respect to interference, would 2 amps @575V create less of a problem than 15 amps@115V..??.............Derek

If it DC, no. If AC, there is a big difference between 50 cycles per second and 27 million cycles per second, so probably no. An unsuppressed DC motor might give problems at the kind of power needed to chuck enough water high and fast enough. I would be more worried about the effect of water falling on my boat than any interference coming off the wiring.
As Dougal99 says, once they get the bill for the power needed, it might not run that often anyway. Once you allow for conversion inefficiencies, you get about 1 horse power per kilowatt. One HP will move 550 pounds one foot upwards in 1 second. To get a noticeable amount of water high enough into the air at any one time takes quite a bit of power.

:-)) We have two fountains at our lake,the only problems we have encountered is when they are switched off and you don't see the bases which the boats can run into also the underwater cables can snag the keel or props,I don't thing you will have problems with radio's as we never have...Ray. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
