Title: Royal Navy Mast Detail
Post by: Robbie11 on November 02, 2015, 05:43:57 pm
Hopefully someone may be able to help with this question, looking to identify the structures at the end of the yardarms in the attached photo. It's the items above the sword & shield aerials in black. Also, would these be available in 1/96 scale?
Many thanks in anticipation,
Robbie

They are UHF Receive and Transmit aerials.
The Type is AJE and were fitted to almost every
RN ship. Known to all as Christmas Trees.

Ned's got it in one - I must admit I've never seen them in black before though.  :o

hi ya Robbie

you can try Barry at Sirmar fittings.  I do know that he does all fittings in 1:96 scale for the Type 42 build - as I have bought these from him in the past myself.

Thing to remember is - and I do stress this - Barry has a full time job, other than Sirmar - so speak to him on the phone after 6 p.m. during week days.  He sometimes works on a Saturday and Sunday as well - so gotta be patient :-) .    He is a great guy to talk to =- I have spoken to him many a time and he helps with many queries about model making.

I have spoken to him tonight just to clarify that Sirmar is still running smoothly and still producing and glad to say it is running well.   Just taking time to get the orders out.

Here is a link to Sirmar's website :-

Have a good browse but remember you might not see the fittings you require - that is why its bets to talk to him on the phone.

Thanks John. I've used Barry before for my Type 12 Frigate fittings, I'll drop him a line.
