Title: italeri 1/35th RC conversion
Post by: Grayfox3222 on January 02, 2016, 02:41:36 am
A project that has stalled 3 Italeri  kits PT596 Schnellboot & Vosper various motors primarily Speedgear 480 3.45:1 along with a quantity of batteries both lipo & NiCad . I am considering using Radioactive 25mm props & shafts probably single shaft in all 3, not scale I know but on the water what matter, Speed ? well I don't want a race boat something close 2 scale would be nice up on the plane. Advice please gentlemen.

Hi,

I have the running gear for the Italeria S-100 schnellboot although it is installed at the moment 3 x MFA motors, shafts and props I might consider taking them out and selling them on I think they were from SHG.

I think rnli12 is referring to is

MFA is a type of motor manufacturer

Both companies have a web site and sell on the net, however postage may be the killer for us in Oz.

Thanks Gunna
I had surmised that may have been the case & I agree postage/freight would dampen my enthusiasm for SHG items.

Hi.  Can I ask why you are removing the running gear ? I've just started fitting mine from SHG and not really happy with the prop lengths.
cheers

Hello
I have not done this plastic kit conversion but done a fair few other.
1 why use a geared motor when you want speed. Direct drive ,look at small brushless.
2 the prop is what transmit all the power from the motor. Great motor ,bad prop = crap.been there done that. Only one company to use prop shop.
So 3 small brushless motor running on a 3s lipo running prop shop props will go fast .

John
Why geared? (a) because I own 2 (b) I don't want warp speed (c) small pond, around 5 to 6 acres and My eyesight is poor . I do appreciate your input tho & I also have brushless but these 3 boats are a fair investment of funds and I want/desire 2 get it right.
