Hi everyone
bit of a long shot but worth a go, does anyone have a pictures of any manufacturers version of the 5 inch BL fitted to Victorian Royal Navy vessels in 1889? These were the last of the standard guns before the quick fire 4.7 in came into service often being replaced by the newer QF guns. I can find information but very few pictures especially drawings. Any help would be gratefully received. I need to make 8 of them one day and I thought starting early would save some time later.
As reference these were fitted to the model I intend, one day, to build in 1/48 of the steel gun sloop HMS Basilisk, one of two Beagle class sloops built in 1889. A lovely looking vessel in my opinion of one of the last colonial gun boats operated by the Royal Navy before the Fisher cut of 1904.

Hi Nick. I have done a quick Google and have found some confusing but possibly useful links displayed below.

Linked in the Wiki article as a 5inch but probably a 4.7.

That is almost enough material to build the thing though one always wants more reference material!

Thanks Ian
I can't believe what a plonker I've been, I completely forgot that Gannet has the 5 inch guns I'm looking for! Thanks for the other links, just goes to show that I'm not thinking straight! %%

Well you are up to your oxters in Dreadnought and work seems to be cancelling deployments for you at a moment's notice, so I am not surprised. There were a few ships mounting them, so there should be a few references around linked via the references for actual ships.
