:} Greetings all.
Just getting back into model building after quite a few years out. Looks like it will be a pleasant challenge. Now just have to find the spare time....
-
"Seems like there are quite a few of us"
There is no truth in a rumoured take over, and that is only the ones you know about. O0 O0 %) %)
-
Welcome Rod.

So True hard to find time.
I seem to have less spare time since I retired..(SWMBO has a little list). >>:-(
-
You're Lucky mine has a big list that never ceases to diminish. {:-{ {:-{ {:-{
To all the younger members don't put off building that boat for when you retire. O0 O0 O0
Age, ability, health, time, family, etc, etc, all will take up your time, do it now. :(( :(( :((
The saying never put off until tomorrow what you can do today comes to mind as does tomorrow never comes :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi, I can only claim temporary mrmbership as I have done half my time down here already, but as Arnie says "I'll be back".
By the way what is all this 'Geetings' stuff?

Hi Roy,

It is Aussie strine for greetings, %) %) O0 O0 {-) {-) {-)
Seriously though we need to get rid of these upside down keyboards and US spelling.

Hi, when I was in the mob, U/S meant there was something wrong with it. Nothing that can't be put right though!
regards Roy

Means same here.
That's why we say Yanks.
-
Hi I am in Woy Woy,
Roy
-
????
Woy Woy is holiday area north of Sydney, which means you are here but in cockroach country.
Still, have to agree that it is a nice place
-
It's OK......roycv is just out visiting his relos....
Each morning he has breakfast overlooking Brisbane Water %)....if the winds are fair, Roy & son go sailing for the afternoon
Each evening he has a G&T overlooking Brisbane Water :o......contemplating going sailing for the next afternoon
No cockroach bites <*<.....he is in good hands, sons partner is Ms. Dr :P at the local hospital.. ......Enjoy your stay Roy :-))

And here am I thinking that Brisbane's water, which we drink comes from Brisbane.
:o :o :o

Hi Derek, Arty, Cor lummee me cover is blown!! Strike a light you Ozzies are shrewd b******s.
I have seen a cockroach outside though!
At the moment I have plans to cycle to Umina beach (20 mins away) then go for a walk in the waves and then back on the bike, This afternoon? No idea!
I work on the principle that everyone has to be somewhere! A sun lounger with a view has lot going for it.
The cost of £800 fare for an invite for 5 1/2. weeks was a bargain and I get to see my son. Well we used to play model boats together a lot and model railways.
I have not had a G&T yet but I am not saying that a good few glasses of red wine over dinner with said view have not been appreciated.
We sailed down to Sydney for the Easter weekend and stayed at the yachtclub marina, nice facilities but food only average for the price.
It may seem I have a hedonistic life style but I am just a poor pensioner in reality. I also have a smile on my face, well most of the time anyway!
My kind regards to you both,
Roy

Roy.....have just spoken with an ex work colleague [Noel]...he is a Director of the Sydney CYC [Cruising Yacht Club of Sydney] and I mentioned your comment of the food being a little on the expensive side
Noel was astounded to hear that anyone would think a New York style gourmet hamburger with chips at the CYC for AUD$28.00 was expensive and should go to New York & order a New York style gourmet hamburger with chips >>:-( & you would pay US$123.50 or about AUD$153.03
Has No1 son taken you to any good Fisho's around the Hawkesbury area yet? ...I believe there is on such establishment  overlooking the water at Umina................Derek

Sorry!! I do not eat large portions of food now, by choice, and it was not easy to find a small meal from the options. I do not eat hamburghers, again my choice. There were some big fellas there and I can imagine they come in with big apetites. So the menu suits them.
The one meal I did have there was fish and chips which was very nice but my son ate 30 % of it as it was more than I wanted. I eat what I want but I am just restricting how much I eat as a diet and nicely losing weight
The morning coffee was very good.
Went to the Fish Market in the Harbour and it was completely packed, we had fish and chips but only average and on top of that they had taken away the mooring jetties, so we had to do a quick landing, jump off with our bags. Return was also a little fraught. My son handled the yacht very well as some others were really struggling to come along side.
I am hoping to check out the Fish and chips on Brisbanse Water soon, I think I have been to the other fish and chips place and that was nice too.
I had an excellent Indian meal in Ettalong (I think) 3 of us lots of food and had a doggy bag as well, nice atmosphere bring your own wine all for 68 dollars.
I noticed that the restaurants seem to close about 9 in the evening.
Give my regards to your friend, sorry to have caused an international incident, but we had a good visit the staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities always clean and no waiting. The marina was nicely looked after and everything in its place. (He can have the shampoo and conditioner I left there as a goodwill gesture!)
best regards Roy

If you are into Oysters, Hawkesbury is the place.
Halverson motor cruise builders used to be there, Hawkesbury, Closed down some time back, don't know if any remnants still remain.
Recall they also built Fairmiles during WWII.

Hi Rod,
Read your post when looking for someone else. I live about 20 minutes’ form you, Bonny Hills.
What sort of boat modelling are you in too? I mainly build R C tugs, cargo ships also R N vessels. Maybe we can get together and share our modelling ideas and building experience. There are not too many model boat builders in the Camden Haven/Port Macquarie area that I know off, there are some on the Central Coast also Newcastle.
Hope to hear from you.
Cheers.
Tynebank.

Hi Rod P
Welcome to the forum from Southern Tasmania.
-
Hi Tynebank, if you look at the dates of the posting you can see I was a visitor. However I am on my way again in mid January for a month, hope to snatch an extra summer in 2017.
My son and I are into OO gauge trains at the moment but I am still primarily into boats. I have a couple of small 30 inches semi scale ferries by Glynn Guest., but otherwise like scale yachts.
I find these days that the water is further away than it used to be!
So Woy Woy here I come, just 6 weeks to go, *******
best regards Roy

Hi Roy
My post was intended for Rod P. He happens to live very close to me on the Mid North Coast of N S W.
When you are next at the Central Coast "Woy Woy" if you would like to see some very good model railway layout I can give you some contacts, I have also been involved in the Model Railways for longer than I can remember. Have spent most of my time in Australia up to 10 years back living and working around the Brisbane Waters/ Central Coast area.
Enjoy your next trip Down Under.
Cheers
Rob
