Well I have stripped off the 4 layers of paint and it is looking pretty good.

Andrew, you may want to carry on that strake to the bow and both sides, too. It'll make quite a difference to the performance.

Hobbyking in runners 3639-750,3648-850,3639-1100 or 3648-1450.
ESC car 60 amp(HK-60SL)or 100amp(HK-100A).
Program card (HK Prog-Card) dam easy to use.
Speed and Amp test on Spearfish at the weekend.
This ended some people's ideas on props.
Motor 3648-1450kv and ESC 60A only the cutoff voltage changed in the setup.
ON 3S 5800mah Lipo
Prop 2blade 38mm x 1.4 pitch 35Amps speed 27kph.
40mm x 1.4 pitch 37Amps speed 26kph.
Prop 3blade 37mm x 1.4 pitch 42Amps speed 26kph.
ON 4S 5800mah Lipo
Prop 2blade 38mm x 1.4 pitch 60Amps speed 36kph.
40mm x 1.4 pitch 55Amps speed 37kph.
Prop 3blade 37mm x 1.4 pitch 60Amps speed 37kph.
Pretty quick for an old girl!!!!
The quick test from the 1900kv,4S was with the 3blade 37mm but no data.
It was dam fast, I think it would out run an IC motor.

Not that I'm remotely interested in brushlesses and LiPos, but can somebody explain the pitch measurement to me, please. For instance, my old narrow boat had a 26x 16 prop. 26" diameter x 16" pitch. One turn moved the water 16". So what can 1.4 be? Not millimetres, surely?

That's a 64 dollar question.
I maybe wrong, but, I think the pitch is the distance one turn of the prop moves the boat thru the water.
This may open another can of worms!!!!
I watched the Great Canal Journeys Series, lovely boats and canals.

But that would suggest the prop had almost no pitch at all, i.e. 1.4 mm. I think that most unlikely. It would look flat! Some real props are "square. The Singer Commodore, for instance, was a 9 x 9. (I just happen to know that!!, weirdo that I am<G>)

In earlier years, high speed steam propeller's had a pitch equal to the diameter and this was considered state of the requirements to harness the torque of steam engines
In todays world of brushless high current capable motors, such pitch to diameter ratio's have been exceeded to use the available torque
The example below..... :o :o :o
Prop 2blade 38mm x 1.4 pitch 35Amps speed 27kph. is actually 38mm diameter with a pitch ratio of 1.4
So the propeller is actually designated as 38x53.......or ~~53mm pitch............
Another way to consider this is the example propeller has a blade tip to tip cylindrical helical displacement of 53 mm when rotated through 360 degrees ...
Again this 53 mm has no direct bearing in any longitudinal movement of the vessel through the water, nor considers fluid displacement efficiencies etc.... O0

I would run the spray rails right to the bow, this will help at low speed and in rough water.
The boat is starting to get her looks back, kept up the good work.

In case you think this bit is taking too long consider this.....When I was clay modelling for BMW we worked on the Range Rover with the "gills" in front of the door.
So keen were BMW "engineers" (all Brummies, btw) to have no twisted surfaces that it took 6 of us 2 weeks to get rid of the lines and dips on the cant rails (bit above the doors) on the final GRP model of the car, a model which finally costed out at just over 3 million DeutscheMarks! (3.12 to the pound at the time).

I have a bit of automotive refinishing (bog application and removal ok2) and cake decorating experience (similar principal to bog application) lol

Ah, there you go, you call it bog, we called it "pug", All the same. Clay is just a brown wax that never sets. It's all just stuff that has to be first spread, then cleaned off, but where would we be without it, eh?

I abought a Sea Commander from a club member(it's from the newer company) only used a few times.
Removed the small brushless motor and installed a D3548/4 1100kv mainly because I add one and the original motor was rear mount.
Install a dog drive shaft and a 2 blade 40mm prop.
Added a 60Amp ESC and 3S 5800mah Lipo battery.
Very quick cabin cruiser!!!
The spray rails on this one do not go to the bow and so bow wave is large at low speed, over 1/3 throttle it picks up the bow and is no problem after that.
Yours is looking great!!
Car body spray putty will help with the smaller dents.
