Title: Gutted i lost a drive
Post by: portside II on June 07, 2016, 12:02:50 am
Put the SDM onto the bench tonight to give it a check over and noticed there was a prop missing  :o .
Looked a bit closer and there was no shaft either  <:( , now this is a graupner 2335 schottel drive and i think getting parts could be a problem.
But i have a plan, well several, firstly i have an idea where i lost it  so thats the first place to look, secondly i have made enquiries as to the availability
of spare parts , and thirdly i have another shaft from the other drive which could be used as a template to make a new one ( i still have the bevel gears and bushes).
And if all that fails i have a 2335 for spares.

.

This was always my main worry.  I had read that they might fall out when sailing.  I should imagine replacement parts were now irreplaceable. I had to strip one apart to make an extended depth version  (for the front schottle) so know intimately their construction and fatigue level.

I'm not sure I would even take it sailing more than 2 foot from the shore.    %)

Best of luck rebuilding

Cheers guys,
I think it's sorted now. Getting spares has always been a problem from Graupner.
