A penguin walks into a bar and asks the bartender, “Have you seen my brother?” The bartender replies, “I’m not sure. What does he look like?”

There used to be a pub up in Old Heathfield called 'The Jack Cade'...the owner had an old ambulance parked outside. Instead of 'Paramedic Unit' written on the sides, he had it relettered to read 'Paralytic Unit....'

Pub still there - now called the Half Moon. Don't know about the 'ambulance' though! :-))

Perhaps it's just as well it didn't get called the Full Moon. One dreads to think of the sign.

Reminds me of the pub which was favoured by Gp. Capt. Douglas Bader the famous legless fighter pilot. O0

Was that the Duck and Custard :embarrassed: near Hawkinge ? Bet there were a few mispronounced variations of that establishment. Anybody know if it is still there, it was about ten years ago.

Duncan. I've no idea. My post was a play on the word 'legless'. Bader, when leaving the pub sober or otherwise was known to say that he was the only one who was truly legless! ok2

I`ve just looked-up the pub. It is called the Cat and Custard and is still there. That would be the English pilots name to play the variations , the Scottish ones no doubt used the Duck version name of my fading memory. There is/was a nice little Battle of Britain museum on the site what was of RAF Hawkinge airfield.

Many years ago, when my stepfather died, I remember finding a box full of old aircraft dials, meters, cockpit parts, etc. Turns out they were 'liberated' from an ME109 that crashlanded in the fields out the back of their farm. We drove up to Hawkinge to that little museum, and donated the box of bits to them.
