Title: Advice needed - damsel in distress
Post by: Lisa2710 on September 05, 2016, 07:59:33 pm
hi all,
I am a complete newbie, and feel a bit of an imposter  :police:  the reason for me joining is firstly to get advice on my late fathers boats ... As in "what are they" please don't say boats. Ultimately I will be selling but my descriptions are rather "non-description" I have inherited a large collection of what I call, A Battleship / fishing boat / trawler... Think I should just say "boat" !! They are all but one made from wood and fully operational. Can anyone shed any light on actual names please?

You would need to post pictures of the models for them to be recognised and have 15 posts to be able to sell on here.

The blue fishing boat (trawler) is a Billings Boats model 'Nordkap'.
They still sell the kit for this at 'Cornwall Model Boats'. http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/billing_boats_nordkap.html (http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/billing_boats_nordkap.html)

Hi
When I started out in this boat world, I was told "The only stupid question is the one not asked" Well I am still asking.

I wish I had paid more attention... other than knowing that the crystal colour matched in the boat and the controller.... I just pushed the buttons and Dad shouted ... left... right... "MIND THE BANK"  %) %)

Sangsetia would have probably been built from Metcalf articles in Model Boats magazine. Looks like lots of work in that one.

A suggestion - find a local model boat club. I know there are some in the south of Essex (I'm in the north), and contact them. I am sure one or more of their members would help you sort out your Dad's collection. I have certainly done similar in the past.

The Techniplus AP227 controllers aren't worth much now (got 2 of them myself).
The servo's are small plastic boxes with a 3 colour wire coming out of them & possibly an arm or disk with small holes in them on the top.

Hi Barrie,
I did contact Thurrock boat club, which dad was a member of for many years, a gentleman did come out and bought some buyers for the steam tugs and has offered a table at the lake sales later this month, but I can only fit about 3 maybe 4 boats in the car :(
