Hi All
I bought an old IC wooden boat for $15AU from the tip shop, which I have found out to be a Japanese kit of the Northwind.
At 800 x 400mm a good size and a bit different to any other boat in the club.
The bow was in poor shape and I ended up replacing the whole centre section from bow to stern.
Installed a flex drive system and brushless motor(XK3674-B-1900kv) on 3S Lipo battery to start with.
Also adding an engine hatch and two crew!!!

Very nice, are you going to seal the hatch down? good place for water to get in , Brushless & lipo's are the way to go these day's , I'm a recent convert, you can't believe the small size & the power these motors throw out , I think the day's of the brushed DC motor are numbered . . . .

I am sealing the hatches.
The forward one has the motor, battery and ESC and the rear one is the radio hatch.

I restarted the project with a stack on work done.
Installed the motor, drive line, rudder and glue on the two windscreens.

Sorry Davo, it was only 20 degrees that day and yesterday was 24 with today 20 a mild wind with tide coming in for boating!!!
Well the maiden voyage was a fun outing!!!!
Basely the boat was a dog's breakfast!!
TOO MUCH weight forward, so I added spanners etc. into stern radio area.
The drive angle was to parallel to the boat and to small a prop.
I change to a 2 blade 45mm prop and was able to get some speed out of the boat.
The 100 Amp ESC was cutting out at full revs!!!
The turning was better than the original, but, I think the boat is a bucket of worms.
Back home and I removed all the spanners etc. from the boat after checking the CG.
Moved the battery from in front of the motor to the stern along side the rudder servo.
Move the ESC back to the frame behind the motor.
This put the CG back to the same point.
I added some lead weight between the servo and the transom which moved the CG back 10mm.
Next was the turning which I increased the rudder throw and changed rudder angle out by about 4 degrees to lift to bow on the turns.
I did the same with the turn fins.
I know it's a big number of changes.
