Title: LUBRICATION ON A PISTON VALVE BORDERER STEAM ENGINE
Post by: MOG8 on October 05, 2016, 02:18:08 pm
Good afternoon,
I am working on a piston valve Borderer steam engine plant.
Reversing the engine is taken care by a reversing RC valve similar to that found on the oscillating engines.
If I install the displacement lubricator on the forward steam pipe, the engine will not receive any lubrication while running in reverse.
To insure lubrication on both forward and reverse running I should install the lubrication before the reversing valve.
Am I right?
Thank you for your replies.
Giovanni

Hi Giovanii,

Yes that is correct.
This will also lubricate the reversing valve which otherwise would not receive any.
Try and keep the lubricator and reversing valve as close to the engine as possible so as to minimise any post reverser condensation problems.

Good luck... nice engine by the way.

Sandy. :-))
