Title: My steam tug "Vient de loin" (comes from afar)
Post by: rhavrane on October 27, 2016, 10:31:13 pm
Bonjour,
After a long trip and several little problems due to sudden shocks during travel, I have successfully tested my RTN steam tug calld "Vient de lojn", coming from Microcosm in China : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOgJV8Xc7qU
I just know her one twin in Switzerland.

Bonjour et "Bonne Année"  :-))
Martin, sorry, I did not share my first navigation on my usual lake : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sdyREhRPj8
Here it is, and for the fun, I have installed my little FPV camera to try to navigate like a real captain  ok2

Bonjour Raphael what a great tug and a nice steam installation too  :-))  I can't wait to start mine later in the year.  How have you found the microcosm steam plant?  Does it have the quality of other manufacturers?

Bonjour Mark,
I bought a first Microcosm plant to test him and the second one with this tug after a friend advised me he was very happy with his one.

I also am very satisfied of Microcosm (Jin) who is unfortunately for my French manufacturers much cheaper.

My only concerns are that he does not build cylindric valves steam engines to pilot them with only one servo like an Anton Jade for example and his boilers are small for 6,78 cm3 machines).

I have no remark about quality, the Stephenson reverses are like Saito ones (pressed sheets) when French ones are machined (but much more expensive).

He is very helpful and and has always answered to all my questions or my requests (examples, I bought him a double diaphragm gas regulator, he made fo me a dedicated water level to plug it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCFkrRa-ilw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCFkrRa-ilw) and when I bought him a water pump, he made for me another dedicated one for my plant : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHyHEQi37Qs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHyHEQi37Qs)). Now, his boilers are planned to receive a pump.
