Title: Swing rig hunt.

Can Anyone point me in the direction of a swing rigged RG65 size yacht, that would not need a lot of work to get on the water, not through lazyness but a never ending list of vintage boats that need restoration so no spare time and I love swing rig sailing. I sold my marblehead on, the one i bought from stavros as it was far too big for me to handle since i got rid of the large van I had.


( I don't want a footy size boat)

This is a nice rg65 class yacht, which comes with 2 suits of conventional sails. It goes together quickly and sails well. It would take very little to fit a swing rig to it. I have one and it copes very well with a range of sailing conditions.

The swing rig shouldn't present any problems, details attached. If in any doubt, it would be worth contacting PJ Sails who sell the Puma RG 65 hull.

Reading my previous post. I think that I undersold the Affinity kit slightly.  While I said it comes with 2 suits of sails, it actually comes with two complete rigs of mast booms and sails. This makes the kit excellent value and makes changing  down in high winds extremely simple.

I think that yacht is a dragonforce clone,
If so, it will have a hole just forward of the mast
Socket which will take a couple of 8 mm
ball races to accommodate a swing rig.
I have been thinking of the same idea.
The stock rigs are unstayed, just having
a backstay and jib connection and can be
changed in a minute or two.
