Title: boat stand
Post by: benidormbob on December 05, 2016, 10:22:38 pm
Hi all, Brought a Amsterdam tug boat without a stand. What is the best way to make one please. I think the only problem I would have is with the shape of the hull, So it sits correctly. Just wondering how to apply the shape to the wood to cut it out. Thank you

but a profile gauge and use that to get the shape.

Yes I agree with Grendel, a profile gauge is the more accurate way.
You could use a wire coat hanger and bend it to shape but not as easy or exact as a p.gauge.

if you want a quick and dirty diy version - bamboo skewers and corrugated cardboard.

Make sure the stand will not scratch the boat's surface, either by using a soft surface or a limited contact surface.

Cheers
